I went to see Death On the Nile this past weekend. It was not as good as Murder on the Orient Express but it was pretty good. The good: the music, Gadot was decent (not as wooden) Russell Brand wasn't annoying, Poirot gets a previous back story
The Bad: starts slow so mystery doesn't actually occur until the 2nd half of movie CGI looks fake (and too much of it. Why this is a mystery?)
I know it underperformed because it was done back in 2019 and stayed on the shelf. I hope that it does well enough to get them to do another.

Curious if you have a book you hope is next, should they do another? Well if I had my wish they would do one of my personal Poirot favorites Dead Man's Folly. But no one has heard of that one so I have to be realistic on my hopes. Maybe ABC murders? Although that one was just done as a series with John Malkovich. I did like The Peril at End House as well. I would be happy if they just stayed away from the ones everyone always talks about. Your The Mysterious Affair at Styles, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd etc.Actually this discussion has me wanting to watch some of the older David Suchet mysteries. Lol.

I haven't been to the theater in probably 3 years and I'm really tempted by Death on the Nile. It was the very first Agatha Christie I ever read 30 years ago, so I have very fond and nostalgic feelings for it. Maybe I will venture out to the theater this holiday weekend. Strange how venturing out to a theater seems like such a big deal.....
Along those lines, I'd love a movie version of the Christie mystery set in ancient Egypt (forgot the title). I know there's no chance because it's not a Poirot story, but I'd love to a big screen movie with that type of setting.

I know there's no chance because it's not a Poirot story, but I'd love to a big screen movie with that type of setting. That was The Sittaford Mystery. There’s a feature length ITV version of it (during Geraldine Mcewan’s tenure as Miss Marple), also starring Timothy Dalton and Laurence Fox (who has come under fire in last couple of years but I think is incredibly charismatic). Personally I vastly prepare all the movie length ITV adaptations (yes the 1 hour episodes of the lesser known novels were smaller time, but the big feature length ones can go head to head and win with the Hollywood ones) of the Christie novels, to most movie versions. Will take David Suchet’s Poirot over Branagh’s any day, and honestly ITV struck the perfect balance in that they were pretty much as glamourously shot (always shot on fabulous locations, the big novels are usually in a holiday setting), but with the intelligence that British channels seem capable of doing that the more hammy Hollywood versions aren’t. Will still watch this new Death In The Nile though because I love the genre (Emily Blunt played Gal Gadot’s role in the ITV movie version and was fab).

I watched Sorority on Amazon Prime last night. It is an independent production and was filmed locally, which was the main appeal to me. But it was a wonderful film, perfect for a Friday night at home. I thought the story was very relatable and it made me miss my sister. Most scenes were set in my neighbourhood, and I can’t believe I never saw them making it.

My husband wanted to go on a date night and is shameless in his love for cheesy romcoms, so we saw Marry Me last night. I wanted to see Moonfall because I heard it was so bad it was good.
I don't know where to begin. It was super cringy but also cute. I couldn't imagine anyone else in the role other than Jennifer Lopez. Owen Wilson though, he looked like he was 65, which is no big deal.
I get that the star of the show was supposed to go for a guy who was just an average but really great guy. I just couldn't get past Owen looking like a geriatric with a huge dick nose. His nose looks like a big dick and he would have looked less old with less make up caked on his skin. He also looked like he was wearing a wig, if his hair was real is beside the point, it looked fake. I feel like a shallow jerk but I couldn't get over the nose.
The scene where the application of makeup to his face and the big deal the character's daughter made over it was just wtf. Jlo was also caked with makeup, but that made sense
Jennifer looked great though. The songs were as cheesy as the movie, but it wasn't the worst movie, just vapid.
My husband adored the movie though so it was all good. I would only recommend it for those who love cheese or snark.

I saw The Eternals on Disney. I tell you, all Marvel movies look lame to me at first. Guardians? A tree and a raccoon? What drugs are these guys on? I see it, I love it.
I hated trailers for Iron Man, Capt Marvel, Thor/Ragnarok, Etc, Loved. Loved. Loved…them all.
So I’m thinking there are way too many superheroes in The Eternals (10, I think). Too much backstory, too many names, too many relationships.
But I loved it! So there you go.
Tonight it’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
