I think it will be Glenn Close, she is someone who is going to get an Oscar eventually and since this year doesn't have a clear forerunner it will be someone inevitable--she fits that bill. I think Olivia is too 'new' (in the U.S.) for the Academy's taste but if she plays another queen in the next ten years I'm sure she'll get it then.

It will be interesting to see what they do if they can't get a host. I imagine the Academy will find a way to make sure it's not an improvement but in theory it could be.

One rumor I heard is that they were not going to have a host, which is looking more and more likely the longer they go without announcing anything.

I'm guessing that this will lead to Kevin Hart being asked back to do the Oscars.

ETA: The chances of him being asked back by the Oscars just went up to 95%.

2019 Oscar Nominations

Black Panther got seven nominations including Best Picture, although I doubt it'll win that one. If it doesn't at least get Costume Design I will be very mad.

I am rooting for Black Panther to win AT LEAST one as well (oh man, in a perfect world it'd walk away with Best Picture because that film is an important icon that is going to be celebrated for a long, long time). Although knowing this voting body, they'll consider it "good enough" having nominated the film.

I will give them credit in the Directing category - Adam McKay was a bit of a LOL but if it means Peter Farrelly doesn't get a nod, I'm totally down.
