Yes. Budget would make sense, though I thought AOC was about $20m.

American Hustle? Interesting. I wonder if 12 Years a Slave is going to lose its presumed frontrunner status before even the first awards are given out. It is very early, though, and it's just one group.

Lupita Nyong'o has been everywhere lately so I think she's pretty much a lock for the Supporting Actress nomination.

Apparently the vote was really close between American Hustle and 12 Years a Slave. It actually went to a tiebreak. Also the early reviews of American Hustle have been mixed. Some people obviously loved it while others have said it is pretty flawed and not as good as Silver Linings Playbook. Which itself was a polarizing movie. I love Jennifer Lawrence but I am definitely rooting for Lupita Nyong'o in the supporting actress category.

I was wondering when Her was going to get some recognition. It's been screening a lot and I've only heard raves about it. For some reason, people think it's brilliant but also assume it's an Oscar underdog, which I don't quite understand.

I'm starting to wonder if the whisper campaign against 12 Years a Slave is starting to have an impact. A month ago, you'd think it would top virtually all of the various critics circles' lists. It's still a lock to get a Best Picture nomination but it doesn't look like a guaranteed win anymore.

I'm scratching my head at Franco for Spring Breakers.
Boston Film Critics gave 12 years best pic, best director & best actor.
I do like awards season a bit more when it's not a foregone conclusion who is going to win. That gets boring. Saying that after watching 12 years I'm surprised its not cleaning up more.
