I saw that too! And, I also thought the professor was hot. Too bad those girls were stuck on an island with a married man and 3 other men completely uninterested in women. Bet the men had fun though... Does anyone remember a sequel to Gilligan's island where somehow they have all bought the island and it's a tourist trap, and somehow The Harlem Globetrotters have to play against robots so the island isn't sold? I know I saw this years ago... or maybe I'm just having a drug flashback because that is a seriously odd plot. The HELL??!! I always assumed the Globetrotters were in an exclusive relationship with the Scooby Gang. Well, maybe they strayed with the Partridge Family, once, but still. I want to see this movie (Scatman Crothers AND Martin Landau!) but it doesn't appear to be available on VHS or DVD. Go figure. I always thought the Professor was cute, but since I was really young when I used to watch I probably saw him more as Dad material. I always thought of BTVS's Rupert Giles as a tv descendant of the Professor. They both had that cute, rumpled, distracted genius thing going. Together, they could've taken a sackful of coconuts and a pocket protector and conquered the world.

This has made my day!
When I was a much younger a friend and I watched some kind of Gilligan's Island marathon. It's possible we were drinking, but we spent most of the time pondering who we would end up having sex with if we were on the island. We decided it would be The Professor for first choice, or, second choice, we'd become lesbians and sleep with Mary Ann (if she'd have us).

I remember that Gilligran's Island movie! The scene that sticks out in my mind is when Maryanne is about to get married to her old boyfriend on a farm, and the Gilligan's Island gang turns u to kidnap her, driving her around and around on a tractor, because they know she didn't really want to get married to him but felt compelled to go through with it. I don't know why that scene sticks in my head, but it does.

I loved Dude, Where's My Car?. The tattoo scene had me in tears of laughter the first time I watched it.

It's that time of year and I hardly ever miss The Ten Commandments. This must've been re-released at some point because I can remember seeing it in the theater as a very young child, even though the movie's several years older than I. I've loved it ever since. Yul's bow-legged swagger, Charlton Heston's sweaty earnestness and jaw-clenching. This is epic cheese and it's sitting in my DVR waiting for me!
[Yul Brynner voice] So let it be recorded. So let it be watched.[/Yul Brynner voice]

I also have to watch The Nutcracker every year.

I could not find The Ten Commandments anywhere on t.v. yesterday! Or The Robe, or Ben Hur, or any of those cheesy religious epics that atheist me is inexplicably drawn to! Growing up, after watching The Ten Commandments, my sister and I would go around doing this over-the-top "Moses, you fool! Moses, Moses, Moses!" Heh, I don't know what she was like in other roles, but that Anne Baxter chewed, swallowed and digested the scenery in this one!

ABC sneaked it in on Saturday this year. It seems that I recall not being able to find it last year, which was really weird since it had been shown religiously (pun not really intended) this time of year as long as I can remember. The picture quality this year was really pretty bad, which never really struck me before. It looks to be fading a lot, but maybe they cleaned it up for the DVD.
So true about Anne Baxter! Poor Anne Bancroft. For years I confused the two and thought she was responsible for all that ham. Then there was John Derek doing "Blue Steel" decades before there WAS such a thing, in every single shot!

We're doing kung fu classics here? Because I'd love "Dirty Ho" for the title alone!

The Last Dragon was on TV tonight. I had only seen it in bits and pieces before. Where has this movie been all my life? It's too bad that home theater has killed off the midnight movie patronage because it deserves a bigger cult following.
