I haven't been able to bring myself to watch that since Heath Ledger died. I don't think I ever will. Yeah, that was the extra kicker. He's so damn good in that movie, and I think that was the first time we really got to see how much talent he had. It's just such a damn shame that he's gone.

Evidently, I have the emotional fortitude of a mouse. I'm watching the 1962 movie "How the West was Won" and it's the part where George Peppard's character is leaving home to go to fight in the Civil War. He calls his ma, "Mother". She asks him why he did that as he'd not done that before. His reply - "I don't know. Somehow 'Ma' just didn't seem enough." My reaction - grabbed for tissues.

I seem to have spent most of the Christmas holiday crying at films. The Railway Children "Daddy... my Daddy..." and I'm gone. Love Actually - even though I know I'm being manipulated...gah! A Matter of Life and Death. Also currently, any episode of DIY SOS with kids - look they've rebuilt their house/kitchen/whatever.... waaaah! Emotional much?

I cried at the end of Best of the Best, after slagging it off when my boyfriend changed the channel to watch it. I didn't expect it to end the way it did. My boyfriend was very amused at my reaction and will remind me of it whenever he thinks I'm going to get 'emotional'.

My father took me to see this movie. He passed away a few years back and I bought the DVD. At the end of the film when the father came home, I totally lost it because I remembered when we went to see the movie. The reason why was their father came home, my father didn't.

From way way upthread:
The scene from Phenomenon that does it for me is the scene where Robert Duvall chastises the guys in the bar for their treatment of George. Every time!

My boyfriend was very amused at my reaction and will remind me of it whenever he thinks I'm going to get 'emotional'. Has your boyfriend no heart!? The Korean guy offers to be his brother to atone for killing his brother years earlier! And then they give them their medals! What, does your boyfriend think it's an empty gesture because Phillip Rhee doesn't get a replacement ice-cream cone?! (Late reply, but I can't let a Best of the Best reference pass without comment.) Oh, hey, I just remembered that I heard a great, funny piece on This American Life about people who cry at any movie, as long as they're on an airplane. I don't suffer from that precise condition, but as someone who has cried at a truly ridiculous selection of movies and TV commercials, I could relate. Skip ahead to the 45-minute mark for Act 4: Contrails of my Tears.ETA: This IMDB thread has a whole bunch of people admitting that they cried at the end of Best of the Best. Also here.

Watched Dead Poets' Society And I practically sobbed through the final twenty minutes. Something's wrong with me. I realize that the final scene is just a variation of the 80's slow clap thing but I completely fell for it.

I get sad just watching the first few minutes because I'm anticipating the last twenty. There are some movies that I just have to leave alone and DPS is one of them.

I fell for it too, and still get choked up... so much that I overlook the whole part about Knox being a total stalker.
