I personally found Mulan to be beyond boring only second to Pocahontas, Any love for fox and the hound? I'm with you on Mulan and Pocahontas being dull but I hate the Fox and the Hound with a passion. I find it to be even harder to watch than the Passion of the Christ in terms of ripping me to shreds emotionally and breaking my heart and I am a freaking Catholic. No way will my kids ever have that film in my house. It's just too damn sad.

Amen to that, and I loved that movie....but I BAWL my face off every time I see it. Cried at the theatre as a 4/5 year old. Cried when my parents got me the storybook album. Cried in college when I tried to watch it. What IS it about that movie?
I was OBSESSED with "The Secret of Nimh" as a wee lass. I had the stuffed animals, the BOARD GAME, the book, which I read a billion times.

Bumpity-bump.
I just noticed that Disney's latest movies have adjectives as titles - tangled, brave, frozen. The classics were mostly named after the character - Snow White, Bambi, Pinocchio, Cinderella...
I wonder if that is coincidence or by design.

Disney doesn't want the titles to be too :girly" lest they lose the total interest of young boys. Obviously, a movie like Frozen or Tangled will skew more female, but they figure there's more money to be made with a "neutral" title, some action and a talking snowman in the ads/trailers. Concept art for a traditionally-animated Frozen.

I wish Disney had done a traditionally animated Snow Queen that was truer to canon, like Cinderella was. That would have been an awesome, kick-ass movie.
