This was funny, which I need right now. But Jonah Hill looked grotesque. I'm sorry, I know I personally give women a lot of shit and there's no way I'm not giving him equal shit. He looks awful, awful. I'm surprised he got insurance coverage to work on this. And sorry to group them, but was Rogen not available for filming? He's a way better actor and just more pleasant. And finally, I was offended at the idea that Lis Moss was "average enough" for his character to be dating. Pull-ease.
All that aside, I thought Puffy nailed his role (where are you?? smiley face)
"African chiiiild...."

I think I'll wait for the DVD so I can just skip to Puffy's scenes. Whatever my personal feeling for him are, the man can act. He was one the few redeeming parts of Monster's Ball. I actually missed his character when he went away.

Russell Brand makes me squee like a teenager so I definitely would love to see this on the big screen.

I saw this last night and liked it. I laughed a lot. Agree that Puffy was a scene-stealer. The whole time I was watching it, I was thinking that this is what it must be like to wrangle Lindsay Lohan.
And I also agree that this movie would never be made with a female lead as hideous and bloated as Jonah Hill. Lord, he is gross. At least Chris Farley was handsome.

Yeah, Chris Farley was a good-looking dude. He had a killer smile. You can see the first five minutes of the movie here.[/url] The pop culture references are priceless.

I despise Puffy IRL but he is very, very good in this and probably steals the movie. Like everyone else says, Russell is good and Hill is replaceable. Worth the $19 I paid for my boyfriend and I to see it.

Yeah, Chris Farley was a good-looking dude. He had a killer smile. Seriously? Farley might have been many things, but physically, facially attractive? His face looked like a Cabbage Patch doll mated with a bulldog. I guess this reinforces what FotoStoreSheila said; actors are graded on a curve that actresses aren't. The female equivalent of Farley (and Hill) would never get the lead in a film, even a comedy. More on topic, I guess this movie is underperforming at the box office (currently at $48 million). It got pretty good reviews, 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's similar to hits like the Apatow films and "The Hangover". Anyone have a theory why it hasn't been a bigger hit?

I didn't think it was that funny. Puffy was hilarious, but anytime he wasn't onscreen I was actually kind of bored. And I loved The Hangover.
I don't know- I don't dislike Russell Brand, but I don't think he had a whole lot of funny material here. Jonah Hill is horrid- horrid looks, horrid acting.

I think that it is underperforming because the lead is so unappealing- put a good-looking guy in Hill's role and I bet that it would perform much better. Or hell, even a Jason Biggs-type who is awkwardly goofy, but not unattractive.
