Nah, Jason Segel didn't write this. He got writing credits for the characters (which it's just Aldous Snow, right? Jonas' isn't the same as in FSM, is it?), but that's it.
I really want to watch this now, though. Mainly for all the cameos. Does Aldous ever mention Sarah? heh.

Yes! It lasts about two seconds, but it was a funny reference.

Also, not to be a wet blanket, but would it ever be funny if you reversed the genders in the dildo scene? Imagine a girl coming out of that saying "I think I've just been raped"? Is the idea that guys are always horny, so a woman can't sexually assault a man? I know, I know, you can't over-think comedies, but it still bugged me. There is a quote from a Cracked article that pretty much sums up how Hollywood treats this sort of thing: "There's such a fine line between clever and stupid. It's just that little twist, isn't it?" edited because I put my quote in the middle of the other ones, and it made no sense.

Segel also co-produced the film and co-wrote most of the Infant Sorrow songs, some of which were written by Jarvis Cocker of Pulp and Carl Barat of the Libertines. They took the Infant Sorrow songs very seriously, which I think is funny. I re-watched this movie last night, and it definitely wasn't as funny as when I first saw it in the theater. Unfortunately that happens to me with a lot of these buddy comedy films. I still got a chuckle at a lot of Russell Brand's lines ("hateful... respect") and the "Can you find my friend, Heroin?"/2 Fast, 2 Furious/hospital scenes. Just so random.

Finally saw this last night. I hated Russell Brand in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," but I thought he was good here. I was kind of moved by how unhappy the character was -- maybe I'm just getting to be a big softie.
Even my husband commented on how bad Jonah Hill looked. Halfway through the movie, he goes, "Is it just me, or does he look way worse than he did in 'Superbad'? I feel like he's going to drop dead onscreen." It was alarming how unhealthy he looked. Someone please tell me he was made to look that horrible -- maybe they figured he should look totally awful, considering he was being deprived of sleep and pumped full of booze and drugs the whole movie? Please?
Diddy or whatever he's calling himself now was definitely the highlight for me. Hubby had to rewind the "Where the f*** are you? I'm gonna kill you. Smiley face!" scene about three times. He laughed so hard at that he was crying. It was all in the delivery.

I watched this a couple weeks ago and just laughed my ass off. I'm sure it wouldn't be as funny the second time around, but Puffy (I'll never call him by anything else, ever!!) stole the show as far as I'm concerned. I could see him being a bit like that in real life, too, considering how successful he's been. Jonah Hill looks HORRID! I couldn't get past that. Euugh. I liked Russell in FSM and this one, but I cannot stand his "comic routines." Bor-ing. And whoever said that they imagined this is what it would be like trying to take Lindsay Lohan for a gig...? That's all I could think of the entire time. haha. Now where can I get some Jeffrey?!

Props to Elizabeth Moss for not flinching each time she had to kiss him. Seriously. I would have to have been holding back the vomit every time. Euugh!

I finally saw this movie a few weeks ago (brother rented it - "you MUST see this!"), and yeah, pretty much what everyone said. Who knew Puffy could act? My favorite part though was "African Child" - 'bout ruptured my innards laughing. I hope Bono winced deeply when he saw that part.

I finally just saw this and it wasn't bad for a comedy that I watched alone and not in the company of other theater-mates. Diddy was just perfect, he came off more natural here than in recent interviews and things I've seen. I actually really am starting to love Russell Brand. There were a lot of random laugh out loud moments, like Diddy chasing them and Tom Felton.
