Fraggle Rock remake being brought to you by the same studio as Alvin in the Chipmunks. That is not good. But it is being produced by The Jim Henson Company so I am cautiously optimistic that it won't be terrible. But if they get rid of the puppets and use CGI as they are considering I will be very annoyed. Do not mess with Jim Henson's puppets!

CGI is completely unacceptable. One of my fondest childhood memories is of watching "Fraggle Rock" on our stolen HBO.

Ah, memories. I remember (as an adult) suddenly realizing that the name Travelling Matt (as in Uncle Travelling Matt) was a pun.

This would never happen if Jim Henson was alive. *pouts*

*sigh* Remaking Starship Troopers is a terrible idea. I unashamedly have that movie in my top 10 of all time because it's such a brilliant satire--somehow I think that the remake might actually take the material seriously. =(

As much as I liked "Dawn of the Dead" and "The Thing", they jettisoned commentary on consumer culture and disease hysteria from the originals. And suffered for it.

I'm curious though how much this remake will go either back toward the source material (book) or away. I know the original movie bore only some resemblance to the book. The same was true of the original Thing to the short story.

Having just seen Straw Dogs, I'll say um, Straw Dogs. Some production company just had money to throw around, no redeeming or new, interesting angles on the original (which squicked me out plenty).

Not a movie remake, but I saw a commercial for Ghost the musical this morning. Why?
