Is Jan Nona's mom, or is that someone else. Jan is Nona's mother, along with the phantom Frankie, who was born 14 months later. What's kind of creepy about it is that you look at a shot like this and it's like...it wasn't like this was a girl who looked like a woman. And yet, on the same token, I can see how a grown man could fall in love with a girl like that. You know? (Ironically, daughter Nona would become strung out on drugs and date Prince at 17. And again, as much as I don't condone it... I get it. Ugh, I sound like such a pedo. *slight shuddering*) Divided Soul had this to say about Janis at 16: Never quite knew the meaning of "I just threw up in my mouth a little" until now. Though I had to giggle at this: Ah, but on night two... Good call, Ma! Speaking of mamas, Alberta Gay had this to say about Marvin and Jan: I don't know quite how to take the relationship between Marvin and Janis. I've read about it, heard about it - even talked to Jan about it. And I know it's been romanticized into this story about a man and an angel and escaping the evil clutches of an ex-wife and blahblahblah...but the only thing I can get from the M/J relationship is that there was this man who was obsessed with this child and made the mistake of marrying her instead of running like hell in the opposite direction. Not saying that the marriage itself was a mistake, but from all accounts (save for the children) it sounds like it was one big ass disaster. Maybe someone who has actually been in love can explain it to me...? Edit: this is Jesse L. Martin, my choice for Marvin. *fans myself*

Yes, Marvin was fine. And sexy. And nuts. I know a woman who partied with him once (about a year before he was killed) and she said all the rumors about him were true. She confirmed that:
1. Yes, he did have a huge penis and knew how to work it. 2. Yes, his libido was long and strong. 3. Yes, his ego was out of control (it was the drugs) but he was cool. 4. Yes, he snorted so much coke that he did indeed rot his nose out. (He demonstrated by putting a tissue up one nostril and pulling it out of the other) 5. Yes, he was crazy and wild.
Despite that, I still love him, and After the Dance was his best jam. I still can't figure out what he is saying in the background. Love that song. Love Marvin. Love Nona. (very underrated as an actress. Singing? Meh).

Rattlerbrat-- You hit the nail on the head with this one. Marvin was a genius and the "I Want You" and "Here, My Dear" cd's on repeat make for one hell of a night with the right person... R Kelly on the other hand is just nasty and about as interesting as road kill in comparison, IMO. I really don't think that people are still practicing making babies to the 12 Play album (Eww) but, I Want You (esp. I Want You & After the Dance) and Here, My Dear (esp. When Did You Stop Loving Me...) classic! Lawd, I'm gonna have to get offline and call somebody

I ain't that impressed with Denzel's talent, plus his skin's too dark and I don' t think he can sing. Now I ain't saying he ain't alright; I just don't think he's that great of an actor. Mind, I think he should have gotten an Oscar for X, and I ain't mad at them for giving it to him for Training Day, but still.... Terence Howard should play Marvin. The only thing that Marvin and R. have in common is that they're both cradle-robbers.

99.44% Terence Howard? urghh . . . .you have got to be kidding. He reminds me of a little red monkey I saw at the zoo once. It would take dayzzzzzzzzzze to make him as fine as Marvin or Denzel. While I think Terence's acting has come a long way from his character in Sparks IMO he is nothing special in the looks department and I doubt that he can sing either. No matter who they get to play the role, I'm sure that he would be lipysynching, simply because I doubt anyone can emmulate Marvin's sexy voice. I do however agree with this:

The only thing that Marvin and R. have in common is that they're both cradle-robbers. But...but...but he made "I Want You!" And he's pretty! I was thinking about this all day (as opposed to y'know...working...) and I can't seem to come up with a reason as to why Marvin's young lovers don't bother me, but R. Kelly's do. I think it's a little hard to call the man to task when he's dead and his "teen lover" is damn near fifty. *sigh* Who am I kidding? Wrong is wrong. Shit, I'm a hypocrite. I used to wonder why people would vilify R. and not vilify Marvin...then I took a look at the Billboard 200 and realized that nobody is vilifying Kellz, either. DAMN, that's despressing. Every time I hear people call R. Kelly the Marvin of my generation, a little piece of me dies. And God kills a kitten - I'm positive about that.

Every time I hear people call R. Kelly the Marvin of my generation, a little piece of me dies. And God kills a kitten - I'm positive about that. Hee, yeah, Rattlerbrat, Marvin's I Want You, including the Ernie Barnes-designed album cover, is a wonderful piece of music, as is What's Going On and a lot of his other stuff. And yeah, he was fine and I been partying off the "Let's Get On" album since forever. And yeah, the woman with whom he was pedophilic is middle-aged now, and Marvin is dead, killed by his father, but hey, facts are facts, ain't they? He still committed an illegal act, you know? Aw, Preach2theChoir, you know I ain't all up on Denzel; never have been. But I think Terrence Howard comes closer to being a more believable Marvin than he does -- TH is a pretty good vocalist and he at least has the coloring of Marvin. DW doesn't. Although DW will probably end up playing him since he and Antoine Fuqua (who is closely rated to Marvin's Harvey Fuqua, maybe his son?) are tight.
