Also are those photos from the set or is it just for the promo photos? Because that forest looks really fake and way lusher than I imagined. This. Are they pre-production stills?

Shit. People that are voting on that EW poll are high. 75% said, "Exactly as I pictured [the characters from the book]." Uh, no? Everyone I know that has read the books have said the guys are all wrong. The one looks weird and the other one is highly unattractive. *shakes fist* (I've said that enough in here, I'm sure.) The rest of the casting is pretty good/interesting, though.

I've just read the books while I was on holiday in Spain. Not exactly a fun read (fun as in light-hearted). I really liked the first two books which had a great pace and both equally great endings. With the third, I felt at times as if I was reading the book version of Saw . It was also repetitive in a way: Katniss is convinced she's going to die, she gets hurt, wakes up confused, overhears someone, misunderstands, Haymitch explains. It felt as if that happened quite often in the third book. I was baffled at some of the choices Katniss made towards the end but I kinda liked that she didn't explain everything. I also liked that she was quite rightly messed up after everything she went through. It made sense that she ended up with Peeta. As for the movie version: I bet they'll somehow include Gale in the actual Hunger Games. There's no way they're not going to focus on that triangle from the beginning even though Gale's hardly in the first book.

I doubt they'll mess with the plot from the books, but I can see them putting in scenes of Gale watching the Games back in District 12 and getting jealous of Katniss/Peeta.

Or have Katniss have flashbacks to Gale while she's in the arena.

I could see them having flashback sequences to include Gale more.
I'm only halfway through the first book, so I guess I don't have enough of a picture of the main characters in my head to object to the casting. So far I have no argument, and I certainly don't have one against Lawrence, since I basically watched her play Katniss in "Winter's Bone." I may change my mind about Peeta and Gale's casting, but right now I don't.
But two who I think are absolutely perfect? Lenny Kravitz as Cinna and Stanley Tucci as Caesar. While reading the book I could see and hear Tucci in my head delivering all of Caesar's lines. He's perfect. And Kravitz really impressed me in "Precious" playing a character who is quietly very kind and supportive of that movie's heroine. Layer in that with the fact that he can obviously pull off someone who is kinda on the cutting edge of fashion, and I think he's the perfect Cinna.

I also think Elizabeth Banks as Effie is perfect casting. I can absolutely hear EB saying, "We've got a busy, busy, busy day!" in my head. I'm sure Donald Sutherland as President Snow will be great, but I still picture Snow as Vladmir Putin.

Oh, yeah. Banks will be great too. There was just one little moment in the book when Effie sort of breaks out of her sunny character, walking past Katniss swearing under her breath over something Haymitch did/said, and I could see Banks playing that moment perfectly.

I only learned of this book because during jury duty, one of my fellow jurors was able to read the entire trilogy during the trial we were on. I needed other books to read on my Kindle so I decided to buy it and like someone else mentioned on this thread, I'm glad I was able to read all three books right after each other. I am surprised to learn that this book is targeted towards young teenagers instead of Young Adults, the graphic nature of the book makes me wonder if I would have been mature enough to handle the book when I was 13 or 14. The book were basically an easy read, they were as enjoyable as they were disturbing. My one complaint was I could have done without the epilogue, it just made it too perfect. But then again, the part where Peeta and Katniss kiss and he says "Real or not real?" at which she answers "Real." melted by cold heart and maybe that's why i preferred it ended there versus the epilogue. I am confused about one part of the book, specifically in Mockinjay. How did Prim end up in front of the President's mansion? I know the book created doubts in the readers mind on who put the kids up there if it was the Capitol or District 13, but when I initially read that part, I thought the kids in front of the mansion were the kids of the Capitol and so I was surprised to read that Prim somehow ended up there. Were there other District 13 kids there?I'm not really sure how they can target the movie to teenagers considering it's not all roses and fairy dust love which is what's needed in teenager movies. The Harry Potter series didn't really have any disturbing scenes, even with all the death that surrounded it that surrounded all 7 books, while Twilight literally had fairy dust love with Bella and Edward. In my mind, even the cast seems weak, not at all what I imagined Gale, Peeta and Katniss to look like. This is who I pictured for the characters while I was reading: Gale (yes, I pictured Gaston from Beauty & the Beast, Peeta (imagined with Steve Sanders from 90210 curly hair), and Katniss (when Ellen Page played Kitty Pryde. I could live with who they cast as Katniss, but I'm really disappointed with Peeta and Gale.
