I don't know if I can watch any more of this show after Lady being killed. Is that pathetic? I'm so glad they didn't actually show it, because although I can easily stand men being beheaded or gutted, I couldn't take the wolf being knifed. The wolfy whimpering really got to me. I felt bad for the butcher's son, too. Was he supposed to be dead? I assumed so, but I couldn't tell. HATE the prince (I forget his name). That was perfect casting because he looks like a disgusting little (inbred?) snot. I have somehow maintained a level of healthy interest in this show throughout the first two episodes despite not liking any of the characters, except maybe Catelyn and Bran. I don't even really like Ned. And I get that I'm supposed to like Arya, but there is something about the little girl playing her that keeps me from liking her. She has a sour little face or something.

She looks like she could cut a bitch, but I like that about her. Like all it would take to turn her into Samara from The Ring would be a nightgown and a knife.
I had to go look up Mark Addy, because I knew the name but didn't remember what he had been in before. Holy Crap, he's the heavy-ish guy from The Full Monty! I totally didn't see that behind that big ass beard.
And the creepy prince has to be from the Queen's brother, right? No way there's a drop of the King's blood in that weasel.

I understand her situation but man, can she hold a grudge or what? 17 years and she still hates Jon who did nothing towards her? And she's being written as softer than she was in the book. In the Catelyn/Jon/Bran scene in his bedroom as originally written, she tells Jon that "it should have been him" who fell from the tower. Yowza!

Sean Bean (and Mark Addy) were made for their roles. I love how those guys play off each other, both the characters and the actors. That scene when they're lunching in the outdoors and discussing their youth was awesome. There is so much friendship and tension and apprehension and regret in their scenes together, just fantastic. And Dinklage is great too: just right. I actually like both the queen and Stark's wife, even though they are not likable per-se. They just play their roles to the hilt without trying to be cutesy or nice, and I kind of appreciate that they are allowed to be somewhat complex. Their scene together at Bran's sickbed was another highlight of the episode.

I forgot to say that I actually like the queen, too, even though she's a bitch. I also thought that scene with her and Catelyn was the best part of the episode. I can't stand her brother, though.

Whoever compared Jaime Lannister to the Prince from Shrek completely nailed it. That's all I can think about when I see him! Highlight for me: when Tyrion repeatedly slapped Prince Joffrey, who will forever be known to me as Prince Pinchface.

I had it TiVo'd and we watched it last night. I left the room for the Lady-killing scene (much to Mr. Smee's disgust -- "It's not real!!"). That means I also missed Bran waking up, but c'est la vie. I hope Nymeria is able to make it back to Winterfell.

Not much happened in last night's episode but I am loving seeing the pieces being set up and moved around in this "game of thrones". The machinations of the players is just delicious. Great introduction to the viper's nest that is King's Landing.

The scene between Ned Stark and Jaime Lannister was so totally deliciously amazing: both actors really seemed to relish that exchange. I'm loving the acting in this show, and any scene with Tyrion is just frikking fantastic. I haven't read the books, but I think there's a lot of great casting going on here.
Wasn't too sure what to think of Bleach-Blond Princess Dragon, but now when she's becoming less of a wimp, I'm liking her more.

Tyrion is amazing! Love him.
I think it's too bad that the Targaryen storyline is getting a bit shortchanged. I'm enjoying the little bits and pieces we see of the platinum blondes.
