Is he having a mid-life crisis? Did he snap due to COVID? Was he a douche and I never noticed because I don’t usually watch things he’s been in?

But I can think of a list a mile long of actual British actors who would be better for this. Ralph Fiennes - too old, but la la la la I don't hear you. I am in love with Mark Strong but I know he's not for everyone. Colin Firth might also be too old unfortunately. I don't see the hot in Benedict Cumberbatch but I am in the minority. Even Joseph Fiennes could work. My vote is Jude Law - he's becoming such an interesting character actor these days, but still handsome. In a perfect world it's DDL - a girl can dream...

There are plenty of younger British actors who could've pulled this off. Tom Hiddleston. Look up Edward Holcroft, he'd have been good too. Maybe Jamie Dornan? Richard Madden.

Matthew MacFadyen seems good. He's 45, so the perfect age, and he's got that Droopy Dog look to him that Maxim should have.

I thought about Tom Hiddleston - he's a little goofy for me for Maxim, but that's just my opinion. I went older because Ginger's point was that there should be a big age difference between Maxim and the second Mrs. de Winter, but if we're staying in Armie Hammer's age range yes, so many good people. I thought about Hugh Dancy and Matt Smith, but that might be too cute with Lily James.

Matthew Rhys. By all means, Matthew Rhys!
Or James Purefoy.
But I suppose both are more TV series headliners.

He was named after his extremely rich and powerful great grandfather Armand Hammer. Armand Hammer bought the baking powder company (Arm and Hammer) because of it's name, not the other way around. Hammer worked massive citizen diplomacy with the USSR . This is an old comment but Today I Learned!!! That’s hilarious.

I watched a documentary once about the heirs to the Campbell's soup fortune, and I follow a style/fashion blogger married to a guy whose family is super rich because of DuraFlame logs. And now, baking soda.
