Tabby, would you mind sharing the recipe here? I looove all things cinnamon and am curious if this is something I could veganize. Cinnamon sledge: 1 c butter 1 c sugar 1 Tbsp cinnamon (the original recipe says 1 tsp, but I like more) 1/2 tsp salt 1 egg, separated 2 c all-purpose flour 1/2 chopped nuts (I use sliced or slivered almonds) Preheat over to 325 F. Beat butter until fluffy. Mix sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Beat into butter. Beat in egg yolk. Add flour, 1/2 c at a time, mixing well after each addition. Turn dough into ungreased 15 x 10 inch jelly roll pan. (If you don't have a jelly roll pan, you can use a half-sheet pan. The bars will be thinner and will bake more quickly.) Using fingers, pat out dough evenly in the pan. Lightly beat egg white. Brush over top of dough. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake for ~30 minutes until set and edges start to brown. Cut into bars while still hot. Cool in pan. These are best if allowed to sit for 2-3 days. Either wrap the entire pan in foil, or put bars in airtight container. Enjoy! A friend of mine gave me this recipe in the late 80s and I've been making it ever since.

Me too! Thanks! I do have a jelly roll pan, I used it to make banana roll cakes and pumpkin roll cakes. :-)

I'm cleaning out my cookware cupboards-- is there anything I can make in a cake pop pan that's savory? I don't bake sweets the way I used to, and when I do it's breads or cookies. ETA: The cheese straws were delicious (Smitten Kitchen recipe.) I erred in the side of caution and used half gochujang sauce and half water, next time I'll use all sauce.

I don't think I would hold onto a cake pop pan, but if you were really looking for savory things to make it in--cornbread muffins or any kind of savory quickbread, tiny meatloaves...I can think of plenty of things that would look really cute made in that tin, but I don't know that it's actually necessary for anything.

Yeah, decided to let it go. I purged all the cookware yesterday and feel good about my decisions. I'm never going to use that 3 tiered wedding cake set from my mom, off they go to the buy nothing group!

Anyone have a killer lemon meringue pie recipe?
I have a friend celebrating a combined retirement and 70th birthday tomorrow and it's her favorite. Of course I could google it, but if you have a particular go-to recipe, please let me know!

Due to having surgery so close to Christmas, I wasn’t able to bake much this year. This is one of my favorite cookie recipes:
Omega Lovin' Cookies
Ingredients:
* 1 cup all-purpose whole wheat flour * 3 cups rolled oats * ½ cup flaxseed meal * ½ teaspoon baking soda * ½ teaspoon baking powder * ½ teaspoon kosher salt * ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg * 1 teaspoon cinnamon * 1 cup (½ pound, 8 oz., or 2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened * 1 cup brown sugar, packed * ¾ cup granulated sugar * 1 tablespoon vanilla extract * 2 eggs, preferably Omega-3 enriched eggs * ½ cup (4 oz.) raw walnut halves and pieces * 1 cup (8 oz.) dried cranberries * ½ cup (4 oz.) raw pepitas (also known as unshelled pumpkin seeds)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit. 2. Cream butter, brown sugar, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla in a large bowl. 3. Beat in eggs, one at a time. 4. Stir in flour, oats, flaxseed meal, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into the large bowl. 5. Add the walnuts, pumpkin seeds (pepitas), and dried cranberries until all ingredients are well mixed. 6. Shape into even balls and drop onto an ungreased baking sheets. 7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Cool on wire racks.
Gluten-free substitution: ¼ cup white rice flour, ¼ cup tapioca flour, ¼ cup amaranth flour, and ¼ cup xantham gum for all-purpose flour; cool completely on baking sheets for 2 minutes before removing to prevent crumbling. Enjoy!

Made a white bean, fennel, and sardine stew. Sort of like a cheaper version of this Bon Appetit recipe with tomatoes.
