I think this might be the first celebrity split I actually feel sad about as opposed to either indifferent (mostly), or bitchily smug (only for a few). Genuinely racking my brains as to when I might have felt that actual glumness. Maybe for Kylie and Jason Donovan when I shipped them at the age of 12? Jason M and Lisa just seemed to perfect together cos both are people I like individually and they seem to mesh so well in both sharing that certain something, whether the mixed race DNA, alternative outlook, or beauty outside the norm. The only person I imagine being happy to see her with is if she was to get back with Lenny which would come full circle and who she also seemed perfect with. And I will be rageful if it turns out that Amber Heard who I already despise (and hated her Aquaman casting) had any part to play in this split. Sniff.

I follow Jason on IG and he seems like a nice guy, but very immature. Like teenage boy immature. He has an entourage of dude bros that are always around him and there's lots of drinking, smoking, jamming, and doing stuff like motor biking, climbing, surfing, etc. He's hot as hell but I think it would be exhausting and frustrating to be married to an overgrown teenager. They've been together longer than the average Hollywood couple, but I'm still not all that shocked. She had a great post-divorce relationship with Lenny, so here's hoping that they stay friendly for their kids.

I'm not really surprised by this announcement (although his actual announcement is Gwyneth-levels of pretentiousness). I follow Jason on IG. I know social media is never a completely accurate mirror to reality but he hardly ever seems to be at home. He seems to always be on-location filming (he spent much of 2021 in Toronto filming multiple projects back to back) or is out hanging with his guy friends. Plus his goofy manchild persona may have finally worn thin with her.

And also, for someone at his level of celebrity, the dude schills for so much merchandise! He's not a reality show star scraping at the bottom of the barrel or anything.

I remember reading something with him and he said that there was one time where he just had no money coming in as an actor. I figured he may promote so many products because he’s trying to get as much money as possible while he can just in case roles dry up again in the future. That’s not based on anything other than a feeling though.

If all of the people hanging out with him are on his payroll, or he's funding their lifestyle of following him around all over then he's bleeding money. I think most stars are not as rich as they appear because it costs a lot to live like they do. The pandemic also probably cut into their ability to work as much, hence the instagram deals.

OT: but LL Cool J once did an interview on Kimmel where I got exactly the same vibe. The guy's been in the entertainment industry for 40 years, he's now on one of those TV franchises that will probably rerun on channels like TBS in perpetuity, but he seemed terrified of running out of money. Kinda like people who grew up in the Depression, those early experiences imprint on a person and they feel a certain desperation around money even as their circumstances change.

I'm sad to read this news, but mostly, I'm super curious who Lisa Bonet will snag next.

They're both interesting and super-attractive people but I also used to follow his IG and could not handle the level of dude-bro-ness in every f'ing post. I only lasted a week. Sixteen years of that...I mean maybe it was easier to be with him because he was ALWAYS filming somewhere else so she's probably been sick of him for at least eight years. Sad for their kids who seem charming.

I remember watching reruns of A Different World and The Cosby Show in the 90s, Denise was my favourite because she wasn't perfect. As for Jason, maybe he will start dating Henry Cavill.

Very good point. I can definitely see Jason as the really nice friend who pays for everything because he's rich. Simu Liu recently wrote something very similar where he feels like he has to pay for group dinners and so on when he's out with his friends because of who he is. I guess it would be a bit weird if you were friends with a millionaire movie star and you still paid for your own dinner.
