Oh man, that's funny. I was thinking about Rachel Getting Married the other day. I thought the wedding was intentionally kind of a ridiculous upper-class hipster culture fetish thing, although the movie wasn't too clear on that point, so who knows. I totally agree that aspect of the movie was the turd in the punchbowl.
(Spoilers)
I do think the family dynamics made up for it, though. My mom's sibling died as a young baby, under totally different circumstances than the one in the movie, but the way that death became a giant black hole in the family rang very true.

I am also looking forward to Spy. It was Kristen Wiig that irritated me in Bridesmaids. She irritates me in pretty much everything she does.

On a totally shallow note, I'm enjoying the press tour for Spy because Melissa is one of the few people that I think looks absolutely amazing with straightened hair. I thought Bridesmaids was fun the first couple times I saw it - not great, but it had it's moments, and I did love the fact that it was a female centric movie that showed all different types of women, all of them pretty normal and human. But damn, USA, do you have to run it 60 times a month?

This is kind of a social media thing. I've never seen the original Ghostbusters in total. I've seen parts of it, and I get a lot of the references, but I've never sat down and seen it from beginning to end, in order. Anyway, since I'm not invested, I really don't feel the pain that a lot of my online friends seem to be feeling about the remake. And worse, I'm super-excited about seeing the remake when it's done. I don't care if it needed to be made or not. I wanna see it!

I hate to sound like a stan--I'm not, I swear!--but the Bridesmaids discussion is cracking me up. It feels like twice a year for the last four years it resurfaces. I think narm and I are the only people who liked it even a little. ETA: And Mutagen! I Love it with a capital L. It is one I liked upon first watching and grew to love more and more after each watching. I quote so many lines from the airplane scenes almost daily.

I FLOVE Bridesmaids, the first time I saw it and and still do.
Just saw Spy last week and I loved that too. I thought Melissa looked fab with the dark Bob. She kinda reminded me of Dawn French who is also gorgeous.

I love it too. I can still remember seeing it in theatres the first time and laughing so hard during the "it's coming out of me like lava! AAARRGGGHH!" scene that I couldn't see the screen anymore from all the tears in my eyes.

If I have to hear Let it Go once more I will do something violent. I think the song isn't the least bit catchy.

I haven't seen Ricki and the Flash yet, but I was reading the Wikipedia page about it. The plot I inferred from the commercials was more like a Freaky Friday thing, and it's more interesting. And I like some of Diablo Cody's movies in general.
However, my unpopular opinion is part declarative, part anticipatory gripe. I don't really like Meryl Streep, and worse, Diablo Cody remarked that there is such a shortage of complicated roles for women over fifty and she had Streep in mind when she was writing the film. Is Meryl Streep the only actress over fifty currently working? I was unaware of this development. And why does Mamie Gummer have to be cast? I'm sure she's a fine actress, but together they are preemptively irritating me away from a potentially promising story.
