I'm glad for SMG that this show has improved. Not that I've been watching, I just have a crush on her. From the. . . don't hate me . . .Scooby Doo movies.
I never watched Buffy and I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix now. Worth seeing? I haven't clicked with the whole teen vampire phenom. For a vampire story to work for me, the vampires need a certain gravitas, they have to have centuries of living that life inform their characters. I know Buffy isn't a vampire herself but who does she go up against? Is the show all clever dialog and pretty teens?
Jeepers, I went off topic. Y'all can't see but I just slapped my wrist. Ow!

Didn't CBS pass on it after the pilot though? I can't imagine, after watching it, that CBS would EVER want it! You're right- it seems perfect for the CW. And, I still think it's pretty sucky. I can't believe Smidge left her "movie stardom" for THIS tv show. Yeah, it's a shame I suppose. As I watched the pilot, I kept thinking Buffy wouldn't do that. I kept waiting for James Marsters to pop out as Spike From Buffy. As an actress it must be frustrating to always be compared to that one role that made you big. I suppose in twenty years she will be the costar on a legal drama where she is one of the partners of a respected lawfirm and acts like she barely made it out of lawschool (hey, if it worked for Shatner . . .). Maybe she could play an over the hill slayer on the inevitable Buffy Reboot since it doesn't seem like Joss Whedon is letting go of anything Buffy. The comic book has been in print for years and actually picks up just like a TV season where the series ended. The Ringer pilot was awful, but the things she does well (act scared, act like a 16 year old on her first date) she does so well that I found myself compelled to watch as she wakes up in the boat or with that guy Siobhan had an affair with. However it took 4 different viewings to get through one TV episode. I honestly didn't think it would be picked up but I saw my DVR recording the latest episode last night as I left for the gym. The writing could be better. They do old hat things like the gun she took off the cop who was protecting her, and whom she somehow tied up, wasn't found when her stepdaughter rummaged through her drawers. No one has picked up on the fact that she isn't Siobhan. I mean I know most police officers aren't super intelligent detectives like they are on other TV shows. But not finding out that she is a twin was a huge plot hole for me. Maybe it is explained in later episodes (I've only dredged through the pilot). But she is compelling enough to make me watch again.

Buffy is awesome! It is nothing like Twilight. It is a little rough in the first season (although still fun) but gets really good by midway through season 2. And it gets darker as it goes on. There is definitely gravitas. Ringer got picked up for the full season which is good I guess. I too haven't watched past the pilot but hearing it gets better makes me want to give it another try.

Echoing everyone else who said the last two episodes have been a huge improvement. I'm glad it got a full season, I'm starting to get invested now.
Also, everyone in the world should watch Buffy, it is amazing.

Just finished watching episodes 2 and three and it definitely got better. I'm just surprised that the writing got tighter after just one episode. Strange.
I also noticed SMG is co executive producer. I wonder if that had anything to do with her going back to TV.
I'd be curious to see if she takes a break from feature films and stays on TV

I thought last night's episode was awesome, especially in light of the first 2 episodes.
I totally agree with Andrew being the world's worst decision-maker (really? Your daughter's on drugs and you send her to public school? as a "punishment"?), and the utter failure of the FBI to google Siobhan and find out she had a twin sister.
I'll reserve judgment for whether Gemma is actually dead until I see her body lowered into the ground, and even then I'll be on "resurrected/evil twin" alert. It is a soap, after all!

For me, the show really is atrocious, but in a fantastic way. It's so ridiculous and OTT, but still interesting enough to keep me coming back. But the clothing they're putting SMG in really is unflattering, especially her NY version. She drowns in the stuff!

I finally caught up with this and I'm not sure I care to continue if I stay busy -- but I'll happily watch when I'm sick in bed. Unless someone tells me Logan has a more interesting plot than being the high school teacher.
Why does Henry have one shirt?
Gemma was really annoying, and I hate the awful red hair she has.

Still watching and still loving it! Hope it makes it to next year. I love all the twists and turns. And aw...Bridge is falling for Horatio Hornblower.
