Gosh, this makes me sad. I'll remember him best as Barney Fife. What a great, iconic character - like every obnoxious rent-a-cop you ever met but still so endearing and human.
RIP Barn (as Andy would say)

Awww, this is a shame. He was a funny guy, and always seemed like he'd be a nice person in real life.
R.I.P., "Barn"!

I thought it was kind of amusing that the official announcement of his death came from a spokesman for TVLand. Like it was actually Barney Fife/Mr. Furley that died.

Don Knotts provided one of the best non-Paul Lynde answers on the Hollywood Squares:
Peter Marshall: You've been having trouble going to sleep. Are you probably a man or a woman?
Don Knotts: That's what's been keeping me awake!
RIP, Barn'.......

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and The Incredible Mr. Limpet were favorite childhood movies I watched over and over again. RIP

Aww! When I saw his name at the top I knew he must have died. Wow. He always seemed like a great guy on and off camera, and Andy Griffith's comments were lovely. I'm going to go call my dad now.

Aw, whitefalcon, I was just thinking of The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, too.
It's a sad day here in West Virginia.

I was a kid when Three's Company was on and I loved Mr. Furley so much. He was always wearing the tackiest clothes.
RIP, Mr. Knotts.

"Citizen's ARREST! Citizen's ARREST!" Aww, RIP, Barn'. I used to watch The Andy Griffith Show and Leave it to Beaver every single day after school when I was a kid.
