We only do spoilers for films in their first theatrical run so don't worry about that here. Thanks.About Lily Rabe. she'll be on the show in the next few weeks as her character from ASH: Asylum. I have to say that Finn Wittrock is owning this season. A little over the top but every scene he's in is fantastic. And Sarah Paulson broke my heart last night in her scene with Jimmy. She deserves every award she can get.

I know! Stupid Jimmy! Dot's offering him pure, unconditional love (and Bette's along for the ride) but he rejects them to their faces. There's not a lot of logic going on in this show, but (and pardon my crass 50's slang) I did notice that Jimmy seemed to get googly eyed over any 'skirt' who happened to wander into camp. At first that was Dot (again with Bette in tow), then Maggie/Esmerelda, briefly Deserie, and most recently Ima. So it seems that Dot missed out on winning Jimmy's love solely for walking in first before several others and no other reason than that. Of course, Jimmy never said WHO it was he was in love with, so I don't know if he means Ima or Deserie or Maggie... or maybe Elsa... or Eve... or Pepper... or maybe like his dear old dad (and the rest of us) he's still pining for dearly departed and chopped into many pieces Matt Bomer. But in any case, Jimmy's an idiot and Dot's sadly gotten her heart broken -which is half Bette's heart so sucks to be her too.
As for the rest of the evenings events YAY! Malcolm Jamal-Warner!! I haven't seen him since he popped up once on Sons of Anarchy and then was gone just as quickly. He had probably about the same amount of screen time here so I'm left to wonder if we'll ever even see him again. If we do, it's obvious he's being set up as a rival for Dell (and/or maybe Jimmy) and whatever happens, I'll most definitely be rooting for Theo Huxtable to save the day (He might even rid the world of Dandy and resurrect Ma Petite and Matt Bomer!)
Sad for poor Regina! A terrible life for a character who had the added misfortune of being portrayed by a bad actress! Sadder still that Maggie didn't pop onto the scene and jump in front of the bullet so the show could be rid of two bad actresses in one shot! Now who will come looking for Regina for several episodes before ultimately learning the truth and then getting killed?
And even though he's a terrible, murdering sociopath, how I do love Dandy and his Dandy Derriere! The Tupperware Party Murders were actually some kind of wonderful. Even though it cut into Jimmy's gigolo business... and landed him in the pokey. But Dandy's just the bestest killah EVAH!!! Note to Hollywood Horror directors. Please scrap all proposed remakes of Friday the 13th, Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre immediately! Dandy Mott's your new go to Slasher! Hooray!!

We see way more people killed than actually, like, perform. I'm a lil tired of the bloodbath. I'd probably stop watching if not for Bassett and Peters.

Guys....Pepper made me cry so hard! Naomi Grossman really wss amazing. She said SO much with just her face. And Mare Winningham, as usual, knocked it out of the park.

Yeah, I was just thinking Mare Winningham made a great drunk (better than any of the other drunks who have been rampant this season) And I will say I thought what Naomi Grossman did was Emmy worthy- but I'm definitely not going to hold my breath that she'll get recognized. They'll probably toss another Emmy at Kathy Bates's bad accent just 'cause.
It's been a while since I saw Asylum- but the story told here was the way I remembered it. Except I could have sworn it was Sister Jude who told Sister Lily Rabe that Pepper cut off her niece's ears (and then later Pepper told the true version when she was possessed by aliens) But maybe Sister Jude actually told the story to Lana Banana- I'll have to watch again.
But Naomi Grossman knocking it out of the park aside, this season is just a mess! I can't believe they brought back Lily Rabe in a beloved role only to have her sit and scribble notes the majority of the time. Her enthusiasm over Pepper's potential for redemption was sweet though. I mainly remembered her being possessed and evil (which was awesome!) and forgot just how pure her character originally was. I wish they would have shown Pepper's reaction to meeting her Freakshow mother as an angry, paddling nun and then meet Lana Banana and marvel at her ONE head. (But that scene'll just have to live in my own head canon ;-)
I'd say Poor Jimmy if I actually gave a crap about him anymore. Although, yeah Poor Jimmy! How will he hold his whiskey bottle now??? And I guess he won't be able to give Dandy a beat down anytime soon- so maybe Theo Huxtable actually will save the day! Not bad for a character brought at the very last minute into the show!
I was really upset when they killed off Ma Petite- so I'm glad she still manages to show up almost every episode anyway. I still can't stand seeing the jar version (which also seems to get shown every episode, damn it!!)
Please put Emma Roberts in a jar billed as the World's Worst Actress!
Where was Dandy?!?!? Or of more import- where was Dandy's Nekkid Bum?!?!?!?
ETA: It was Sister Lily Rabe who told the Pepper story to Lana Banana. I watched just enough of Asylum to find out that much... And to get 'Dominique' stuck in my head for the rest of the night!

The Pepper episode was very moving, but this season is such a gawdawful mess!!! And not in a good way like the first season or the Coven season. It's as bad or worse than Asylum for me. Ironic that Asylum got some shout outs. It seems as though they put 90% of the effort into concept and production design and about 10% into character development and coherent story!

I forget that Rabe was a good nun before she was possessed.

I'm hoping they somehow manage to tie everything together before the end of this season because this is turning out to be one steaming pile of poo. I got into Twisty's story and finally felt hopeful. They he got whacked, and that started the weekly offing of central characters before I could care about any of them. It's just so random.
I get American loud and clear, and Horror if we're interpreting that as a gigantic bloodbath, but where's the actual Story??

I am skeptical because the previews showed that they are adding even more characters in the coming episodes what with the Neal Patrick-Harris scenery chewing guest-starring stint *sigh of exasperation* They killed off Twisty way too soon. They hyped up that terrifying clown so much and then did almost nothing with it. I thought the Dandy storyline was better when he was with interacting with Twisty, too. What a waste.

Man, this season has been a complete mess- But I think if they had introduced NPH and Jamie Brewer as his dolly sooner- it wouldn't have been a total waste.
I think they came up with the idea of a Freak Show and got all excited in the brainstorming sessions ("We can have a Lobster Boy! And a Bearded Lady! And a woman with Two Heads!! And another with Three Boobs! Oh yeah and Pepper! Bring Back Pepper... and a Scary Clown YAY!") But they stayed stuck in character mode and completely forgot about story. It's a shame, because they had plenty of elements and ideas- enough to make it the best season ever. But it's been the worst. I think it could have been fixed if they had switched the format and created a series of character vignettes. They still could have had a wrap around element of either Elsa looking through a scrap book or Stanley showing off his erm... 'collection'. But otherwise, let each episode focus on a single character and tell their story. This also would have solved their problem of not always having the actors available every week (I'm assuming NPH was too busy singing about his Angry Inch and couldn't come work his magic until the last stretch of the show)
So, overall- lots of good ideas and visuals- but no true substance. Hopefully next season- whatever they do will be better.
For now, I'm just waiting for the end, not expecting too much beyond Stanley and Dandy hopefully getting their come-up-ance and wishing for something terrible to happen to Maggie just for the sin of her awful acting. And never wanting to see that damn Ma Petite jar again (So rage inducing!!!!)
