It's actually BAD that Addie didn't make it to the lawn. It seemed like Jessica Lange was desperate for her to die there because everyone who does gets to pop up in and around Murder House Willy-Nilly (the abortionist's wife visiting, the Ghost Gays, the Maid) versus following the regular rules of ghosts - i.e. travel about but on Halloween only. It sucks because it seems like they're eternally stuck there , though. I'm guessing that's part of the reason Constance is adjacent to Murder House -- because she needs to be able to check in on the Maid she killed and/or Tate, who is pretty obviously IMO her son and a ghost. (He was only able to meet Ben elsewhere because it was Halloween).
I'm not entirely sure that the show is actually playing by any rules or won't change them later on, but it seemed that it was trying to set them up somewhat in this episode. So given that we've seen him outside of the house and Violet can see him too, so he's not just Ben's imagination, I'm guessing Denis O'Burnyface is real.
So, my guesses now: Constance - real. Maid - ghost. Tate - ghost. Burnyface - real.
I wonder if Rubberman is, like, the corporeal personification of evil and bad blood/vibes in the house.
I would also seriously watch a show that consisted of nothing but the Ghost Gays and Constance being over-the-top and fabulous/ridiculous.

Loved this episode.

How sick is it that I felt really bad for Tate? What he did was awful, but my heart broke for him. I wonder if he's really blocked it out or he's just pretending to.
Out of all the ghosts, I think Hayden scares me the most. She's a psycho.
So who else thinks the cute cop has the hots for Viv? Just me?

I picked up on something between Vivien and the security guard too.
I love how the show always has little nods to urban legends, like the dog (well, tomatoes) in the microwave and earlier on, the murderer at the door with the fake head injury. It makes things so much creepier and even funny at times.
I also feel bad for Tate... he clearly is/was very screwed up, and with a mother like Constance, who wouldn't be? I was excited to see Jenna from Awkward as the murdered cheerleader. And they referenced Columbine with the girl who said Tate asked if she believed in God before killing her. I don't understand how Tate doesn't remember murdering them. Even if he's dead (and he obviously is), it seems like the ghosts are still able to remember most or all of what they did while alive. I wonder if he killed himself or something and that makes things different? Anyway, when the cheerleader said she would be 34 now, I figured she was 16 or 17 when she died which would put Tate in high school around 1993-1994. That explains his frequent mentions of Kurt Cobain and his grunge-y style. I think it's kind of weird that he changes clothes though, you just would expect a ghost to always have the same outfit on. Does he have a ghost closet full of ghost clothes somewhere?
Hayden is so freaking scary!! I agree, she's definitely the ghost that I would least want haunting me. She gives me the willies.

Yeah, Viv and the guard need to have a steamy fling. I'd want to keep my hands off her until she after she gives birth to the spawn of Rubber Suit though. I'm dying to know what showed up on the ultrasound that made the nurse faint.
I agree w/ HG, we need a Ghost Gays & Constance spin-off. Moira can be on it too. Frances Conroy is awesome.

That's what's confusing me, too — they all seem to remember everything; why not Tate? Makes me wonder if Tate even knows he's dead (the rest of the ghosts definitely do); his "I used to come here" speech to Violet makes it seem like he does, though.
I do have a question, though: It seems like the ghosts all look the same as they did when they died, except for Moira. She's "aged" — wasn't she a young woman when Constance shot her? Why does she appear older (to everyone but men, at least, since we know Ben and the detective see her as the hot young maid)?

I had the same question last night, too! She also appeared older to her mother in the hospital, right? Weird.
Still struggling to understand why Viv decided to kick the husband out of the house. If I were her, I'd be all, "I am OUT of here...you stay in this hellhole."
I enjoyed when one of the undead high schoolers asked the girl if she ever read a newspaper. Good question, zombie! Even if she weren't, I can't imagine the parents wouldn't be familiar with Tate's name in relation to a deadly school shooting.

Well if it had been 16-17 years earlier, and they had just moved to town, it's not that hard to believe. I think a lot of people would be hard pressed to name the Columbine killers if you asked them today, unless they had lived in the area since the time of the shootings. You would think they'd know about the shooting at the high school itself, especially Ben, being a psychiatrist who sees troubled teens, but Violet probably wouldn't be familiar with it since she was either not born yet or a baby when it happened.

After noticing that Tim Minear was a consulting producer, I was looking forward to an episode penned by him. I'm glad he did the episode that was the most revelatory and I hope that his involvement helps to keep things fairly well on track.
Plus we don't know if this fictional shooting garnered Columbine-esque national recognition. if it was 1994, there were a lot of scandals the country was obsessed with at the time.
Hayden's ghost seems to have been able to move on after getting some closure. So, I figure Moira can't move on until Constance is punished in some way or some type of revelation is made.

I'd be hard pressed to believe a mass school shooting with at least six people dead wouldn't be able to find some sort of national news coverage in between OJ's car chase and Jackie O's death.
