Thanks for that, save lilo!. Unfortunately it doesn't open in Australia until February, so it's a couple of months' wait for me.
Thanks for the review, ronette, it sounds very interesting. I can't wait to see it.

I saw it about a month ago. It's visually stunning and the performances are wonderful. It's definitely not for everyone, but if you like the theater, I think you'd enjoy it.

That's me - love theater and love, love, loved this. My god, the "staging" was genius. How this did not win more Oscars, I don't know because the concept and execution were just brilliant. Disclaimer: I've never read the book and knew absolutely nothing about the plot. Thought Knightly was fine in the title role although it seemed a bit like a replay of her character from The Duchess. I think she might've done a slightly better job in that movie but that's because I think she had much better chemistry with Dominic Cooper than she did with the actor playing Vronsky, who I thought was the weakest part of the movie. There was more chemistry between Knightly and Law - actually ten or fifteen years ago, he would've been great in the role of Vronsky. Everyone else outside of Vronsky did a great job and was very cast - really liked Macfayden in his role.

I really disliked it. I'm a fan of the two previous Wright/Knightley collaborations, but this bored me to tears. It was all style and no substance, and the staging was distracting and unnecessary. It was very beautiful to look at, but devoid of any soul. I haven't read the book so I have no idea if that's how it's supposed to be. But I think Wright went way overboard in his stylization and left actual character exploration behind.

I just watched this yesterday, wow, I loved it, I'm still thinking about it. I go to the theater often, off Broadway mainly; there's a small theater company that I support which has the most awesome sets and staging; this movie reminded me of this. Vronsky, not hot AT ALL. His hair looked too done. It took me ten minutes to realize that was Jude Law, but you know what, maybe it's my age but I thought he was hotter than Vronsky. Vronsky just grossed me out, his make up was too much as well . Loved seeing Ruth Wilson, loved her since Luther.

I just realized that the Aaron Taylor Johnson as Vronsky. I don't know how I found him so awful and not hot in this when I thought he was great and hotter than hell in KickAss 2.

Aaron Johnson as hilariously miscast and horrendously awful. Keira Knightly was soulless and boring. The only thing you could say about her is she wears a dress well. Poor Jude Law looked like he was acting in a different movie while Keira and Aaron were in some teenage, amateur production.

I just realized that Vronsky looked like he could have been a member of the Cullen family (from Twilight).
I really liked this version because to me, it showed how childish Anna and Vronsky were, how their "romance" was really addiction.
