I posted in the "Now Playing" thread that we saw it, and thought it was a bunch o' fun. Lots of action, plenty of humor. My kids, however, have read the books (multiple times, in some cases), and I've read a few as well. I liked the battling dockside cranes as well as the sea battle. I thought the visual style would be creepy, but it was quite watchable.

I am a huge Tintin fan ever since childhood, I've read all the books and have DVDs of the Canadian animated series (which was surprisingly well done). I wasn't expecting to like this, but I actually wound up loving it and may be seeing it again. Very Indiana Jones-y and I thought very true to the spirit of the original series. My biggest concern was that they were going to sanitize it, since as we know animation is strictly for children ( : , but they didn't. There was blood, gunfire, fighting, alcohol...nothing insanely violent or over the top, but the original series did include stuff like that and I'm glad they kept it. It wouldn't have been Tintin without the high stakes. And I didn't mind the Scottish Captain Haddock, his real name is Archibald after all.

Very interesting to compare Tintin with Sherlock Holmes - period adventure stories with a central bromance where one of the leads can only really function thanks to the emotional support of his friend.
