I'm not shocked either, JenniPoo. On the show it seemed like Matt cared a lot for Kathy, but she treated him as just another accessory in her life. It was all about her. I just think about the scene at the Silver Spoon gift grab. Matt did not look like he wanted to be there, and it seemed to piss Kathy off. She comes off as uber controlling to me.
Of course, we have no real idea what their life was like just what was shown to us during the show.

Sad and surprising, but not unexpected. She adored him, but it seemed she always treated him as an unwanted accessory sometimes.
And she needs to shut it about Lasik. 99.9 percent of people who get it (and I'm including myself in this statistic) do just fine. There are usually no complications where you'll go BLIND. The trick is to go to a reputable doctor and not one who advertises for $499 an eye.

I see what you're saying. I watched the show too and as I think about it, more things are popping out.
Like how she was always making him sell DVDs and he was always forgetting the box of DVDs, the money drawer, change, a sign, etc. On the show it seemed like funny little stuff but now it sort of comes off as a passive aggressive attempt for him to weedle out of selling her crap at her functions.
I guess we'll never know but the reality show does offer some interesting evidence.
I am spending way too much time thinking about all of this stuff. I am doing anything to avoid work.

Yeah, I agree. I'm actually a big fan of her stand-up, but I really hated her reality show. All she does is stress, stress and stress. I could not stand to be around her.
But, I am very glad she has been vocal about her Lasik surgery problems. I visited a couple of sites that were linked through her website and learned a lot that I would not have known otherwise. I appreciate that because I had been considering Lasik.

Yeah. I don't know about "unwanted" but she did seem to take him for granted a lot. He was always there for her - physically and mentally - and she didn't seem to be able to provide that same level of support. He did seem OK with the situation, but maybe he got tired of being like her personal assistant. That said, they did seem very cute and comfortable with each other, if a bit passionless. I don't expect a marriage to be sparks all the time, but there seemed to be a lack of physical intimacy in their relationship. This is based only on the reality show, and I sort of explained it away by saying that I wouldn't necessarily be all over my husband in front of a camera crew. I guess it could have been a sign that their marriage was in trouble.
I liked them together and thought he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Kathy got on my nerves during My Life on the D-List, but he was always so nice and funny. I sort of wish him the luck in this situation, but I think Kathy is the one who is really going to need it.

I paid 1200/per eye here in Houston, and it's the best thing I ever did for myself. Loved the results.
I'm surprised about the breakup of their marriage. He seemed like such a sweet guy and lost a lot of weight. Sad to think that even with all that fame and money, they are no more happy than the rest of us average joes. Sad.

I was pretty shocked about them splitting up. I really liked them on their show, but we all know 'reality' isn't real...oh well. Feel sorry for them both.
I was already feeling sorry for Kathy from the E! Emmys thing. That Giuliana person was SO obviously there as a buffer between Kathy and Star. I don't think Stah! once acknowledged that Kathy was even there. She totally kept throwing it back to Giuliana and never once (that I heard) ever said Kathy's name. Ugh, I hate Stah Jones!
She can say all she wants about not liking Kathy's brand of comedy, but it boils down to the fact that Star is such a star-f*cker, she doesn't want any celebrities to not invite her to parties.

Add me to the list of shocked and surprised. Day-um. My only guess is he's tired of her controlling ways. Remember that one episode where she emphatically stated that she "HAS to drive the car, if you know what I mean." I thought that was odd, but every relationship has its odd bits. Day-um.

Yeah, she has a... very strong personality, doesn't she.
I'm bummed, though... even just at the thought that Stah! thinks this makes her all kinds of better than Kathy.

I'm from California, but I really don't know a lot about the community property laws here, so if anyone can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it. It's interesting that she's petitioning the judge to not let the hubby get his hands on her stuff (and she's got a lot of it). It's called "community property" for a reason, Kathy. Just cuz you're a female does not mean he's not entitled to your stuff - it works both ways. It must be especially galling to her because her career really took off during the married years.
