Anyone watching? I miss Happy Endings, but I have to admit, James van der Beek is HILARIOUS in this. I love how he pokes fun at the ridiculousness that was DC and Dawson. Kudos!

I must have missed it. Damn, I was so looking forward to seeing the Beek in action. I'll have to find it online. I'm surprised that more of a fuss hasn't been kicked up about the title.

I wasn't wowed last night, probably because they've been showing the best parts in promos for months now. I'll give it another week or two. I agree JVDB was funny, I never watched Dawson's Creek though so I suspect a lot of references to it will fly right over my head.

They put the first two episodes up free on Hulu/iTunes/etc. a week or so ago - which I guess is the new trend to build buzz. The second one isn't much better. I feel like the elements are appealing but it just isn't clicking. Also, the secondary characters are WAY too weirdly/thinly sketched - there's a masturbating neighbor who pervs on them but dispenses advice? The obsessed chick is blah. The sets also seem SUPER artificial. I know it's a sitcom but these are really the fakest sets I've seen.
I think they've already run out of Dawson jokes too. It's not like JVDB has a huge career to pull from - Dawson's, Varsity Blues, maybe Rules of Attraction.
There's a supercute guy in episode 2, FWIW. He plays Rytter's dad. Despite the actor being only ten years older.
Funny parts but it doesn't seem to 'fit' with ABC's sitcoms much. With Cougar Town & Happy Endings not sure things for renewal, I'm not sure I'd give this a timeslot.

Mostly, I hate the name of the show.

I felt that the cast was trying too hard. Like, "look at how we push the boundaries, and then do it again!" *gasp!* Like, you're so cool with all the zany and tacky shit you pull off! Pass.
I agree the Beek scenes are funny, but isn't it really because he's picking on himself for being Dawson? Not to mention how the show makes him look like an asshole. Win?

I'll give it a chance. It was okay, not great for me. One draw back is the Dawson's Creek theme song ear worming its way into my head. Not cool, show. Not cool.

If it doesn't last, I won't cry.

I haven't seen it, but I hate the title. However, I like the Beek, as well as Krysten Ritter.

The Beek is the only funny person/concept in this show.
