Just saw that they filmed the interview on Tuesday.

I can’t really see Harry dumping on his family in the interview and I’d be surprised if that is the route that they take - I can imagine they will focus their ire on the public scrutiny, the tabloids etc rather than making snippy comments about how gran & granddad were mean to him etc.....
Regardless of whether Philip dies this week or a year from now I’m sure the uk tabs will find some way to blame Harry & Meghan.

I dunno, it's like the universe is conspiring against them. Each time they gear up and there's excitement about imminent plans, something out of their control happens -- the pandemic and now concern about Prince Philip's health.

I mean Philip is 99 and he can’t live forever. The last time he was taken to hospital (I think a few years ago?) I thought for sure he wasn’t coming out. I would think if he’s as close to death as the internet rumours are suggesting that the Queen would visit him in hospital?

But then he allowed those snippy, snarky comments to go out on his behalf. No kind words about the Queen. And wasn’t there some slightly snarky reference about the word ‘royalty’ last year, no one owns that word or something? I mean, some people are blaming Meghan for the statement but ultimately it’s his family. It will be interesting to see how he handles questions about the summit and about his family relationships.

I think if he is clearly headed in that direction, they will bring him back to Windsor. The Queen doesn't seem to be particularly hung up on having to see him in person these days though.

I can't imagine the Oprah interview will run if there's a funeral. I'm sure the'd wait a couple months out of respect, right?
They filmed but that doesn't mean it's going to play immediately. I don't think Oprah's people make those kinds of mistakes.

I don't think Oprah's people make those kinds of mistakes. CBS may hold back out of respect, but I could also see them wanting to capitalize on the family drama to get higher ratings. CBS is not the BBC, they have no obligation to defer to the royals. However, I did see a report that Oprah’s team is re-editing the interview in light of the announcement that they’re losing their royal patronages. when they conducted the interview this hadn’t been announced and they talked as if they still had a royal role so they’re revising to reflect the change. I agree that if Philip is really near the end, they will take him to Windsor.

It was obvious to everyone that unless there were significant changes (i.e. H&M changing their minds completely), they would have to lose the patronages and military associations. It really does make me wonder how much they understand this.

Right, Matilda. From what I understood, Q left the door open for a year to see if they wanted to return. If not returning to UK to live pretty much exclusively, and become *active* working Senior Royals on behalf of HMTQ....the *royal* patronages were going bye-bye anyway. All of which is fair, because those patronages need “boots on the ground” so to speak, Covid notwithstanding, to work to maximum potential. And of course, with them living in Montecito, there would be lots of flying back and forth. H has not given any explanation how this would comply with his “low carbon footprint” model for the rest of us.
