The card on Philip's coffin read "Your Loving Lilibet." *SOBBING*

I had a stupid volunteer meeting right at 10, the starting time of the funeral here, so I’ve been playing catch up. I loved the whole thing. Very well done.

So, instead of watching the funeral I had to spend my day listening to a lecture. It was being taught by an Irish professor via Zoom. A really funny guy with a lovely Irish accent. During the funeral broadcast we asked him if he knew whether his fellow countrymen were watching the funeral. His answer was that if they were, they were only doing so to make sure that Philip was dead. I don't know, I just thought that response was so Irish and hilarious.

I thought the aerial photos of the outdoor formations were particularly dramatic with everyone casting a long shadow. I didn't grow up in a Navy family, but "Eternal Father, Strong to Save" is a moving hymn. It is. I know it by the name, "that hymn from Titanic". It's always a treat to hear a good choir sing it.

Who was the woman who rode down to the Chapel with the Queen? Her most senior lady in waiting.

Hearing I Vow to Thee My Country was so touching to me. If you listen to the lyrics, it's incredibly fitting for a royal funeral.

Two moments from today really impressed me with their symbolism. The moment of silence, when it looked like the whole world stood still, and when the bagpiper walked out of the chapel, the music fading with him.

The moment that really ended me is when they were filing out and Beatrice looked back at the vault where the casket was. That was just a really stark moment of knowing that this is a family.

Yes this, I saw her stop and look back, a last look, all I saw was a granddaughter having a moment for her grandpa. It felt I was intruding. I’m glad the cameras ( BBC) diverted away to the beautiful bagpiper as the coffin was lowered in to the vault. And a lot of the commentators are remarking that the masks gave them some level of privacy. Certainly with her hat and mask The Queen was shielded in a way.
