I've never paid much attention to Jeremy Renner (can't recall seeing any of his films, never took much interest in him off screen), but his performance was my favorite in the movie. It felt the least hammy, to me, and I ended up caring about Carmine more than anyone else. I agree with this. I thought all the performances were good but a little too flashy. I never forgot that I was watching Christian Bale with a comb-over or Bradley Cooper with a home perm. Jeremy Renner was the only one whose performance I bought 100 percent. I am surprised he hasn't gotten more attention. I was also impressed with Elizabeth Rohm as his wife. She has come a long way from Law and Order. She used to be so wooden on that.

Saw this on a plane last week. Impressed by Amy Adams, Bale and Renner. Lawrence wasn't bad but she was too young for that role. The woman in real life was older than Adams' character, not younger. Anyway, I found myself not giving too much of a crap about the whole thing, and I remember ABSCAM and love the 70s so this was disappointing. Meh.

Say it finally as well, it had moments but overall one and done. What is it with Lawrence being cast in roles in which she is far too young to play?

I will agree on Rohm and Renner, they were the only characters I truly cared about.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. I hate movies that make con artists and criminals into heroes.

You'd think they'd at least be able to make these scumbags entertaining. I wasn't prepared for how bad this was. I couldn't get through it. After 40 minutes I decided to FF to the Jennifer Lawrence scenes (which were surprisingly few considering all the attention she got for this film). After a while I couldn't even handle FF'g it and gave up. The dialogue, the direction, the acting, and just the entire feel of this was off. Whatever awards AH received, they were undeserved. Hollywood really needs to stop with promoting crap like this at the expense of other films.
