I don't think Corinne and her father had a sexual relationship, so the kiss was just creepy.
I was talking about this with some friends tonight, and we talked about the "appropriateness" of it--someone pointed out that the age where most of us read FITA is parallel to the same age as when people read The Diary of Anne Frank. I don't really know what that adds, except that it's an interesting juxtaposition.

No, she just married and had kids with the man who was she thought was her half-uncle but was actually her half-brother. She kept it in the family, just not with her dad (in her defense I don't think she knew he was her brother, but her dad did, hence the whole "You better have not had any kids with that dude!" thing).

Dammit guys! You're making me want to reread the books. I've read those books at least 8 times....don't judge me, I'm old and started reading them at 9, but what's one more time? I want to be ready for the next movie. What I really want is for them to make Heaven into a movie. I just found out that it was based on a true story. Coolcreepy!

Memory is failing me here. Who was Corinne's real mother?
ETA: Why did they bother with the bit about locking Grandma in the attic when they escaped? And the guy outside who shut off the fence? Dramatic effect? The whole thing wasn't bad but it seemed like they were having trouble fleshing it out to two hours. Seemed like there was a commercial every two seconds.

You guys are way better rememberers than I, and you watched the movie, but didn't the grandma die, and the kids found out their mother had kept them locked up for many of their years in the attic?

Memory is failing me here. Who was Corinne's real mother? It's too long to type out, so I will link to this wiki: Alicia Foxworth.

I never read the prequel so I didn't realize until last night (when I went back and read the Wikipedia plot summaries of the entire series) that Alicia was Corrine's mother. That's made sense as to why Olivia was always hating on Corrine for being beautiful.
I had forgotten that Bart died saving Olivia from the fire after Corrine went nuts and set Foxworth Hall on fire after Cathy spilled the beans to Bart in front of everyone.
Back to the Lifetime movie...Christopher Sr. was very underwhelming for me. He looked like a mailroom clerk. He didn't have the majestic aura that I imagined him with.

I agree--it didn't look like his suit fit him well, either. I don't know who I would cast instead, but someone more like Anthony Michael Hall, although he might have been busy filming Psych.

No, the grandmother didn't die until PoTW, I believe. They did find out that the grandfather died while they were in the attic, but that he had put a codicil in his will that stated if it was ever discovered that Corrinne had children from her first marriage that she wouldn't get his money. That's when she hatched the plan of Death by Donut.

"Death by Donut", heh!!! I don't remember there being a fence built around Foxworth, and how would they have explained [snob]a chain-link fence[/snob] to the neighbors?!?! Christopher Sr. should have been a strapping angelic hunk, like Mark Valley. An extra half hour might not have added much to the plot, but would have added to the time spent in the attic, and the loss of time for time for the characters. Bring on Julian and Dr. Paul!!!
