I don't know how far the movie is supposed to span, but if it's focusing on her competitive years, then it seems like muscle rather than just weight is what's important. It doesn't help that Margot Robbie is easily half a foot too tall to play Tonya Harding.

If Margot couldn't gain weight to play Tonya, the producers should've cast someone else. I think she looks ridiculous. But how else is she going to get her Oscar??

I haven't heard anything about it being for Lifetime. Think it might end up being a dark comedy instead of a drama. But still - I don't see how this would be a good career move for someone who's so successful right now. Maybe being Australian, she was removed from the scandal and hasn't watched any of the TV movies about the subject? At least her husband is foine.

I read that she is also a Producer on the movie. It also stars the "can't do wrong in my book" Allison Janney and Sebastian Stan. Who knows, it could surprise us and be good!

Yeah, this seems like such a weird career choice for her at this point to me too. It sounds very Lifetime. I can't see it but I'm assuming she's going for a Charlize/Monster type film.

It just sounds like a really terrible idea. I can't see turning this into comedy. To Die For worked because the author adapted elements of a real case. This sounds like Suicide Squad with ice skates.

Apparently the screenplay paints Tonya in a very sympathetic light.

Apparently the screenplay paints Tonya in a very sympathetic light. Sympathetic as in it portrays her as not having known about the Kerrigan plot beforehand? Or sympathetic as in putting all the blame on her abusive childhood, marriage, and figure skating underdoggedness? I'm ok with the latter, but even her most loyal friends/defenders admit they don't believe the former. I don't know what the rationale was behind this movie because it seems like a bizarre project for Margot Robbie to be doing, but I'll definitely be seeing it no matter what.
