What we know about Season 2, probably

The next season of “True Detective” will be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system,” says series creator Nic Pizzolatto.

I don't know if that's true or if he's just pulling our chain.

But the link provides I guess what could be considered spoilers, but it's really just talking about structure of the show nothing truly plot driven, cast or anything really deep about the show.

I have flown through Denver, but had to stay in the secured passenger area, so I didnt have a chance to check out the weird ass murals. I would like to know who had the bright idea to have such unsettling imagery near where folks are about to get onto planes. Or at least do the right thing and offer complementary Xanax to passengers.

That line reminded me of the plot of "The Crying of Lot 49", only that book involves the US Postal Service. Still, Thomas Pynchon is another type of author whose work has a following that really gets into poring over the tiniest of details.

Something about soldiers and gas masks and dead children and swords stabbing a dove of peace. Nothing weird for an airport.

I think the best thing about DIA is this bit:

There is a dedication marker in the airport inscribed with words, "New World Airport Commission". It also is inscribed with the Square and Compasses of the Freemasons, along with a listing of the two Grand Lodges of Freemasonry in Colorado. It is mounted over a time capsule that was sealed during the dedication of the airport, to be opened in 2094. The Freemasons participated in laying this “capstone” (the last, finishing stone) of the airport project.

It's like a shoutout to conspiracy theorists. You think Freemasons are sinister and weird? Well, suck on this! I googled 2094 a while back and the reference that came up was a quote from the movie Prometheus:

Elizabeth Shaw: Final report of the vessel Prometheus. The ship and her entire crew are gone. If you're receiving this transmission, make no attempt to come to its point of origin. There is only death here now, and I'm leaving it behind. It is New Year's Day, the year of our Lord, 2094. My name is Elisabeth Shaw, last survivor of the Prometheus. And I am still searching.

Well, it's to be opened in 2094 because that will be the 100th anniversary of sealing the time capsule. So, pretty typical choice, not that it matters to conspiracists.

There is also talk that the airport did way more excavating during construction than was necessary, theory is because there is a secret bunker under it for the Chosen to go when Armageddon comes. Apparently Obama just happened to be at that airport when that comet passed by last year, just in case, dontchaknow.

Plus, some say that the airport wasn't necessary in the first place and that it has fewer gates and runways than the supposedly inefficient one it replaced. That's what the interweb said.

Yeah, the whole layout of the DIA is rich vein of tinhattery on the internet. Given that it openned in the 1990s, I am sure there is tons of hyperventilating "Clinton is going to get you" stuff as well.

I am just boggled that whatever committee reivewed the art for the airport went with that design. Did they not ask for a portfolio of the artist's work, or insist that since they were writing the check, that they had a say in the design?

Still, I wonder when we are going to get a heads up for when season 2 starts.
