I'm shocked by how much I'm enjoying this show, NDT is a great presenter, the science is presented in an intelligent but easy to access format. It's television that makes you smarter.

I know! I was even bitchy that Seth MacFarlane has his grimy paws on the series, but I can't tell, and I LOVE THIS SERIES. I'm predisposed to, but still, it's beautiful and interesting and funny and smart. I also love the tribute to him, and I was able to catch a repeat of some the original series last week, and it was great. I hadn't seen it in a million years, but it was impressive then, too. And the production values reminded me of another old educational series, Connections with James Burke.
Also, I love the way tv audiences lose their shit when NDT comes on shows like the Colbert Report.

Seth MacFarlane is a HUGE fan of the original and he's the one bankrolling the reboot. He's made so much money for Fox that they let him basically do what he wants; he wanted to do this and make sure it was in a way that stayed true to Sagan's vision. Personally I'm very happy he got his grimy paws on this because he played a big role in making it happen. I know! NDT is a rock star!

I can't stand MacFarlane, his projects, and his overall existential smarminess, so I let that cloud my judgment. To say something nice: I'm very grateful that he chose to use his power and pile of gold for good.

I feel dirty.
