I read the Rolling Stone article on this today, and it mentioned (off handedly) that he and Kiefer Sutherland are still friends. Which, really? There must be a strong bond to the "we dodged a bullet" sentiment. They probably get drunk and throw darts at photos of Lyle Lovett and Danny Moder. Then Benjamin Bratt and Liam Neeson come over and the party really gets started. There's good arguments for fathers' rights, but Jason Patric's not the poster boy for anything except for how to take good looks, talent, and connections and torpedo them with the crazy. Not only is he Jackie Gleason's grandson, but his father is Jason Miller, a fine playwright ("That Championship Season") and actor ("The Exorcist").

Yes, I really question her judgement if she willingly chose him as a sperm donor. This wasn't an oops baby. They were broken up and she already knew he was a hothead. If it were me, I would see the potential for him to stick his nose in and try to take control and I'd be concerned about passing on his bad traits to my kid. I really sympathize with her, I do, but I hope this serves as a cautionary tale to any woman thinking of using her controlling, abusive ex as a sperm donor after shed already gotten him out of her life.

I don't get why you would use your ex's sperm anyway. That's just... really weird. Unless it was an amicable breakup and you're still close friends. But even then, there's a lot of opportunity there for things to go wrong.

I don't know... we all make shitty choices regarding relationships and getting away from abusive relationships is a process, so I am not going to judge her too harshly. It is truly frightening how this case fits within the context of the continued attack on women's control over our reproductive rights or just our friggin' rights as human beings. The Bode Miller case scared the shit out of me.
I did not finish law school at Law and Order University, but if Schreiber can establish that Patric was abusive to her, will that work in her favor with a judge? Or is gendered violence not much of a consideration in custody cases?

Yes, I can't find anything now except for what he said about one of his costars Ashley Judd, but I could have sworn that every time this guy has had a high profile project, he usually badmouths one of his costars. I know he definitely said something about Samantha Morton being crazy, which she might have been because she has a reputation for being difficult too, but I think he badmouthed Sandra Bullock too or at least was upset that she was considered the star of Speed 2 and not him.

I know some of us have snarked on Ashley Judd, but wow. I can't believe he went there (and it wasn't even couched as a blind item!) Reading that brought this to mind: - Has anyone else indicated that Ashley Judd is a "lazy actress"?
- I wonder what he would he say about Gwyneth Paltrow
- I'd like to see what he'd say (uncensored) about working with Lindsay Lohan.

Between his rumored heroin addiction and Lindsay's... everything, they'd either end up married or going out in a blaze of glory.

This passage from the 29-page letter Jason wrote is the douchiest thing ever. I can seriously hear his smug voice narrating this shit.
That poor kid! Schreiber has got to be messed up in the head. According to the Jezebel piece she'd already escaped this psycho after an abusive relationship and had purchased no-drama sperm, yet she STILL chose to spawn with this psycho?
A little off topic but Jason Patric always makes me think about Christy Turlington who he used to date. When she married Ed Burns I figured she had a type: Asshole. When I worked in the service industry I served Burns a few times and he struck me as king of them all. I've never met Jason Patric but I got the same vibe from him. Glad to see my Cluster B Personality detector still mostly works. I'm human so it ain't always perfect, but the more blatant psychos can often be seen from space...or the movie screen. Shout out to Ed Norton and Sean Penn!

For years I had this dislike for Ed Burns; I always thought he was a douchebag, but I could never articulate why. He should thank his lucky stars every day that he managed to marry a supermodel. I'm not surprised to hear that Jason Patric also happens be a douchebag. Why, oh why did he and Julia Roberts not work out? ETA: Twenty-nine pages? Who still writes letters (presumably by hand)? What size were these pages, 5" x 8"? 8.5" x 11"? Did he write on one side or front and back? How many guys would ever write a letter that long in this day and age?

He sounds psycho but this dumbass woman not only decided for him to be the donor, but had him in the child's life for 2 yrs when they got back together. I feel sorry for the kid tbh but not for Jason or the mother.
