At the Detroit Tigers game, they not only honored Jackie Robinson "42" on the big board, they also honored Chadwick's life.

This tweet has become twitter’s new most liked tweet, previous most liked was a tweet from Barack Obama. A small thing I know, I hope it give some small comfort to his family that the world has given them this rather modern global hug of sorts in this way. I have 42 lined up on telly and Get on Up is on my Netflix list already I know my plans for later tonight.

I read somewhere that he was cast in BP in 2014, and he was diagnosed in 2016. You're right, I completely forgot about Civil War being released in 2016 which means they would have filmed way earlier like in 2014. I'm a HUGE dodgers fan and rented 42 earlier in the week with hopes of watching it this weekend when MLB honors Jackie Robinson. It's still sitting on my coffee table. I can't stomach to watch it right now.

I read somewhere that he was cast in BP in 2014, and he was diagnosed in 2016. Actors have to be medically cleared to work for insurance purposes so I presume Marvel bosses did know the situation. I’m impressed that it never leaked. We watched 42 last night. It’s a pretty typical sports biopic, but Chadwick Boseman’s performance really stood out. He was incredibly gifted. And I loved the onscreen relationship he created with Nicole Baherie, who played Rachel Robinson. Sometimes “the wife” is a thankless role, but she was a bigger player in this, and in scenes with her Boseman could express Robinson’s doubts, fears, vulnerability, and determination. They created a great onscreen marriage. At the end of it I was so sad to know we’ll never see him in more films. The BP director, Ryan Coogler, didn’t know so I wouldn’t be so sure about that.

I wouldn't be surprised if no one at Marvel or Disney knew, they never would've been able to insure him if they did and they probably would've re-cast him. I don't think a standard insurance physical would've uncovered it, especially if he was in between treatments at the time. What's mind-boggling to me is that Black Panther was filming at the same time as Infinity War, and Endgame was filmed immediately after that, so he was actually doing two intensely physical movies at once (one of which he was the lead in) and then immediately followed that up with another one. I don't know how he managed to do that.

Spike Lee says he didn't know either. I believe Ladybug is correct that actors have to pass physicals and are required to disclose health conditions to their employers/insurers that could potentially impact production. But it's still confidential health information, so that doesn't mean everybody and their uncle is entitled to be in on it. His directors and costars didn't know, but I think somebody at Marvel did.
Patrick Swayze attempted to keep his cancer diagnosis secret and wasn't as successful at it, but his agent, lawyer and current employer (A&E) were among the first to know - before he even told his mother.

Time for a rant: Colon cancer killed my mother. Diagnosed at 60 and dead at 61. (My MIL was lucky, caught at stage 1.) A gastroenterologist explained to me that colon cancer is one of the most preventable when caught early (ie routine colonoscopy checkups, before symptoms emerge), but once things start to advance, things get very difficult. I was shocked when I saw the news on my IG yesterday. This is very similar to what happened to Katie Couric's husband, he was 42 when he died. Very, very, very sad.
