I think he'd be good at it. He's an intelligent guy and Congress desperately needs an IQ boost.

I sure didn't see this coming! I'd be less surprised if his thread was up because he'd married some guy with the last name Rocknroll, and they'd had a baby and given it a sort of dumb name, or because Jay Mohr had called him fat, via twitter. Go, Clay. Why not run for office?

I'm actually not horrified by this news. Some celebs, yes it'd terrify me. I haven't actually heard much from him since he had a kid so he seems happy to be out of the spotlight.

He'd have to move. My understanding is that he lives in Chapel Hill, which is in the 4th Congressional district and a safe Dem seat (currently held by long time Representative David Price). Renee Elmers is the Representative in the 4th 2nd district, a tea partier and a first-termer. She's put her foot in her mouth several times and most recently her husband was very careless with his AR 15 and it was stolen. Personally I think she's vulnerable, thought IDK if Aiken is the one to replace her.
ETA: I miswrote the district Elmers represents- it's the 2nd.

I remember him talking about entering politics a long time ago in some interviews. I think this was a long term goal for him. He and Tom Harkin (D-IA) have had their own Mutual Appreciation Society going on for a while now.

I've never been a fan of his music (I totally voted for Ruben back in the day, y'all) But I can picture him in politics. I saw him on Celebrity Apprentice (don't judge!) and he seemed very good at delegating and organizing. I know he's been very involved in setting up charities around special needs kids. Not that all of that equals being good at politics, but it shows he has a good head on his shoulders. And since his heart's in the right place, I'd rather have him running for Congress than a lot of the old farts in there now that are currently destroying the country. We need some fresh blood and he probably has enough ClayMates left out there to stuff the ballots in his favor.
So, go for it, Dude. And if you move to Virginia and are in my district, I promise not to write in 'Ruben Studdard' this time ;-)!

Hey good for him. He's not in my district but I wish him luck. And again, will be happy to see some fresh blood in Congress regardless of what district he covers.

Yes, good luck to him! If Real World Sean can be a congressman, then why not Clay?

I don't hate him but I remember years ago not being able to get that song "Invisible" out of my head.
