Disney has released the official US trailer for the live-action Cinderella, which will be in theaters March 13, 2015.I don't know why I didn't make the connection until now that ROBB STARK is Prince Charming. This will bring suspense to the wedding scene at the end. Also, annoying cousin Rose from Downton Abbey is Cinderella, and annoying Daisy from Downton Abbey is one of the ugly stepsisters. I usually eat this kind of stuff up with a spoon, especially considering this one has an interesting cast, but the trailer is pretty boring. From what I've read, it's going to be a faithful retelling, so I don't expect this to be that memorable. I'm hoping it will at least be beautiful to watch in a theater.

Yeah, just saw the trailer on my FB feed, very underwhelming. Doesn't look like it would hold the attention of little girls into princess stuff.

I'm really confused by the vaguely anachronistic costuming of Cate Blanchett. She looks like she's in a film set in the 1950s. All that chartreuse and the animal print.
Also, what's with both Cindy and the Fairy Godmother having dark brown eyebrows and bleach blonde hair?
The art direction and costuming look a little too much like an episode "Once Upon A Time" to me (definitely not a good thing, in my book), but I'll probably check it out to see Cate ham it up as Lady Tremaine.

Don't they do a TV movie of Cinderella every year? And that's the straight retellings. Add the take-offs and interpretations that that's one third of all movies and TV shows period. A straightforward retelling of a story that anyone who's even slightly interested in can see in a million other formats (from classic to trashy, from G to R ratings) doesn't seem like it's bound for success.
I'm happy about this mainly because I'm bored with Lady Rose on Downton and this way the show will have to move on.

I actually think it looks good for what it was going for. There's no mistaking this for a reimagining of the story, a la Snow White and the Huntsman. This is straight up, probably largely shot for shot, live action remake of a cartoon intended for little girls. The costumes look cool.
I'm confused though about why they felt the need to give Prince Charming those creepy fake blue eyes. Nine times out of ten I really hate color contacts.

It looks like it will take a while to get to the magic/interesting part for kids to be engaged. Ie: no comic relief from Lucifer the cat or talking mice.

The evil stepmother and stepsisters look like rejects from a Tim Burton movie. The mice are cute though, the prince not so much.

As near as I can tell from the trailer, poster, ads, etc., the star of the film is the blue ball gown.

They basically showed the entire movie in a 2 minute plus trailer.

My favourite live action version of Cinderella is Ever After, with Drew Barrymore and Anjelica Huston. I loved the whole "she rescues herself" side plot in that one, and the cast is great.
Cinderella to Prince Charming (after escaping the creepy guy that stepmom traded her to): What are you doing here? Prince C (shrugs sheepishly): I, uh, was coming to rescue you.
"I'm only here for the food," rebellious ugly stepsister snots back at her mother. Heh.
The ultimate Cinderella is still Disney's animated classic, so pretty and fun.
