I haven't finished the epi yet, but I have to get this out of my system:
Steven Pasquale is waaaaaay too hot to be playing Mark Fuhrman.

I have to say, I think I was one of the people who laughed at all the media "critiquing" that went on with Marcia when the trial was going on. Now, through older eyes, I feel absolutely awful for her and am judging my younger self. And, yes, if Sarah doesn't get an Emmy out of this, well, I just don't know. I cosign all of this! I was in tears by the end of that. The last thing I said to my bf when the show ended was that she is winning an Emmy for this.

Now, through older eyes, I feel absolutely awful for her and am judging my younger self. And, yes, if Sarah doesn't get an Emmy out of this, well, I just don't know. Oh man, that scene where Clark is walking into court with her new hairdo thinking it looks good and then realizing everyone hated it was crushing. Although I did giggle at John Travolta giving her the thumbs up. I was iffy on his performance in the beginning but now that Shapiro is mostly playing the fool I dig it. Last year when The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt had Tina Fey and Jerry Minor play Clark and Darden in a couple of episodes I remember thinking it was not funny at all. Not because I was offended but because the jokes seemed so dated. But in hindsight it seems incredibly mean spirited. I think this show has done a great job showing how cruel and sexist the coverage was while also not glossing over the mistakes she made as a lawyer. And I love Clark and Darden's relationship on the show. Now I'm actually dreading the whole glove scene when it falls apart. And in real life both refuse to comment on whether they had a romantic relationship. They won't confirm it but they don't deny it either. So take that as you will. Looking back, I realize now that I was too harsh in my judgment of the jury. There really was no "right" verdict for them to make when one of the lead detectives pleads the fifth when specifically asked if he had planted evidence in the case. If that's not reasonable doubt, I don't know what is. I agree. I have always thought OJ was 100 percent guilty. And I still do. But I can't say for sure that I would have voted guilty based on the way the prosecution presented the case. Its not like I believe there was a mass conspiracy to frame OJ. But the evidence was handled so sloppily and Furhman pleading the fifth, I don't think they were able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. The eighth episode is called A Jury in Jail so I am hoping they get more into the mentality of the jury at the time. Oh and the knife they found recently is most likely not the murder weapon. It apparently doesn't match the wounds. The music was also excellent in this episode. Portishead! I would totally buy an American Crime soundtrack.

Can I mention that it bugs me that Robert Kardashian towers over OJ in this miniseries. I see David trying to bend his knees and hunch over, but it's obvious. And this may belong in True Crime, but I saw Goldman's dad and sister on Steve Harvey and they were mad that the miniseries did not focus more on Nicole and Ron. It appears to me that this miniseries is about the trial, and they were already dead. I don't think the focus of this miniseries was on them, their lives, and what wonderful people they may have been.
Episode 7:
1. The glove didn't fit. 2. Wow, Darden and Clark in the hallway. Hot, even if make believe. 3. Didn't know Johnnie's wife and mistress were on tv together, or that he apparently slept with half of LA. Interesting that the mistress was white. 4. I cannot believe that Shapiro tried on the gloves before OJ, so they knew they would not fit. Why was that allowed? 5. They were receiving faxes during the trial? Had not even thought about law professors, and Alan in particular, watching the trial live and sending things to the defense. 6. I cannot believe they had all of that evidence. I've mentioned how much I knew about the trial before. When Marcia was describing the blood evidence, and how impossible it would be to do all of that transferring, I was shocked.

Did the gloves really not fit, though? If anyone tried to put a second pair of gloves on over a pair of latex gloves they would have difficulty. Apparently the prosecution had intended to have him try on a replica pair instead of the actual gloves in evidence which, I assume, would mean the latex gloves would be unnecessary. But Ito allowed the defense to have it their way. Aside from the latex gloves making it difficult, there's also the fact that gloves are supposed to fit...like a glove. OJ never really pulled them on the way a normal person who actually wanted to wear them would. That coupled with his weak acting skills make it obvious to me then and now that the gloves could have fit IF he just, you know, put them on! But really, as I said before, this case unfortunately came down to Mark Fuhrman being a racist and taking the fifth, which left the jury with no choice but to acquit regardless of the mountain of evidence available to them.

The gloves were frozen and thawed several times, so they had shrunk. Plus OJ hadn't taken his anti-inflammatory arthritis medication for several days, so his joints were swollen. I don't remember if the prosecution even tried to make the jury aware of these facts.
It was heartbreaking to watch Clark and Darden's interactions after the almost-kiss.

I wondered if he was on some anti fluid heart medication that he could have stopped taking, thus making the gloves too small. I also figured that the gloves shrank due to the blood drying on them. Why would the prosecution not mention this?

I read an interview with Marcia Clark awhile ago where she said initially she didn't think the gloves not fitting would hurt the case that badly since she thought his bad acting was so obvious to everyone. I don't know if that was in her closing argument though.
Cuba's size certainly doesn't help sell him as a former running back. He doesn't come across as intimidating at all.
I didn't realize until I read a recap that lady lawyer on Cochran's team is Shawn Chapman. AKA Lindsay Lohan's former beleaguered lawyer. They should do a where are they now on the last episode. Shawn Chapman- lawyer to troubled Hollywood starlets. F.Lee Bailey- disbarred. Alan Dershowitz- accused of having sex with underage sex slave. The dream team didn't exactly cover themselves in glory after the trial. Except for Barry Scheck. He founded the Innocent Project which is pretty awesome.

The Robert Kardashian storyline really stood out for me this episode, particularly the scene with A.C. where they open the garment bag. The path from Kardashian thinking no way could his BFF have done this to coming to terms with the fact that there is only one plausible solution has been really well done IMHO.

My favorite scene in the latest episode was Marcia tearing down the conspiracy theory at the bar to Darden's friends. Sarah was fantastic in it--not to mention, it really just laid out how ludicrous the theory was.
I cringed at the glove scene, even though I knew what was going to happening.
