I almost went to see this in a theater but finally saw it on HBO and was glad I hadn't paid money. It wasn't bad but I was just kind of meh.

I enjoyed it in the theatre, but rewatched it at home and didn't enjoy it nearly has much on the small screen. I really liked the book though.

I didn’t think much of this in the theater, but now every time this movie is on FX I have to watch it. I really love it now; not sure what changed.

I liked it in the theater, but I also watch it every time it's on TV. The plot is really so basic that it's easy to pick up if you flip to it. Guy stuck on Mars, NASA trying to bring him home. That's all you need to know. I love the problem solving scenarios of pretty much all space flight related movies. "Here's the problem, now how do we solve it." The brains and bravery of people working in this field will always inspire me. Even though the Martian is fiction, they did such a good job it feels like a true story, doesn't it? Everything seemed pretty plausible until the end, IMO.
Does anyone know of any movies about the USSR space program? We only seem to cover the US side of things, but I would love to know more about how the Russian space program worked.

I don't know about any movies about the USSR program, but there is a movie that seems perpetually "in the works", about how bra and girdle making technology led to the development of spacesuits, and I'm dying for someone to fund the thing and get it produced.

The two things I can think about this movie is poop potatoes and how much I wanted Matt Damon to die in space.
That is all.

I am literally waiting for a copy of The Martian (the book) to land on my doorstep! I ordered Project Hail Mary and needed to add $5 more to my cart for free shipping, so I threw The Martian in there for $12.
