Question on Kilgrave and his parents - he tells Jessics that they abandoned him when he developed his powers at 10 years old. Then when she tracks down his parents and was all, "Good job abandoning your 10 year old kid. Now he's a monster" and they were all, "No! He tortured us for years before we left!" Making it sound like they stuck around for a while. But when he confronts his parents, he's screaming again abou them leaving when he was 10 after he compelled his mother to put the hot iron to her face, and they don't deny that - again, making it seem they took off when he was ten shortly after his powers appeared. The video made it seem pretty clear that the powers showed up when he was 10.
So, did the parents really stick around for years and Kilgrave lied to gain sympathy? Or did they really leave at 10 and lied to Jessica to downplay their role in the making of a monster? I mean, they suck either way because they'd didn't warn anyone about him or tried to incapacitate him - they'd just snuck out in the middle of the night and left the world to deal with their monster of a son. But I just wonder about how badly they sucked.

I think he made it sound like they had a child just to experiment on him, and he lied or conveniently forgot that his parents did actually love him. Didn't they start the experiments to help him because he had something, and they were trying to cure him? The powers were a side effect. They had to run away because he was terrorizing them and would end up killing them. Maybe the persuasive powers developed earlier, but his sadistic side just got stronger around 10.

Just finished watching after putting off the last three episodes to make it all last a bit longer. I absolutely loved it. Jessica and Trish were kick-ass, whether against Simpson or Killgrave, or just in general. I found myself cheering quite a few times.
Daredevil fan that I am, I loved seeing Clare again, too, and the little comments she made in subtle reference to Daredevil.
I'm pretty sure I'll be rewatching this all over again very soon.

So I finished this after initially not being sure about it. But I love the whole female super (anti) hero thing. I enjoyed Daredevil but I realize that this is the better show. It has its flaws but I could overlook them after the first few episodes. Biggest thing this show has over Daredevil: the big evil guy gets called out on his awful crap he does to women while Daredevil tried to sell this "epic" lovestory between the bad guy and his psychotic girlfriend.
The twins, Simpson, Hope and Malcom didn't work for me at all, the latter two due to some questionable acting choices. When Malcom talked to Claire I honestly thought he was mind-controlled because of the awful line-delivery. That actor was also bad when he was on Empire. Even when Hope appeared I constantly forgot that she was the reason Jessica didn't want to kill Kilgrave. She was so uninteresting as a character even though we were supposed to be on her side.
Other than that....really enjoyed this and will definitely watch a second season :-)
