I just saw "The Danish Girl," and was quite impressed with Vikander, so I did some Google stalking, and there seem to be some rumors that she's one of Harvey Weinstein's ladies...
While I think she is deserving of her current success, the likeliness of the (ick) Harvey factor bums me out.

While I think she is deserving of her current success, the likeliness of the (ick) Harvey factor bums me out. I would again point you back to Fassbender's fans on tumblr as the major source of that rumor. They refer to her as "Harvey's girl" and to them as "The Weinstein couple". (There's even one tumblr with that name.) There's no basis for that rumor except that she's been in Weinstein Company movies and therefore worked with him. (Unfortunately, there are non-Fassbender fans who also think that is enough to smear an actress' reputation solely because Weinstein is known as a sexual predator...which makes me mad.)

I would only believe those rumors if she wasn't a really good actress - she is a really good actress.

That's ridiculous. None of the movies that launched or furthered her career had anything to do with Weinstein. All the fame, buzz and awards she's getting now are because of either The Danish Girl or Ex Machina, neither of which are Weinstein movies.
To date she's only been in one Weinstein movie (plus one that's unreleased), and that was a flop -- and she only had a small role in it, and they barely even promoted her. Isn't a fairly critical part of being a Weinstein girl actually, you know, starring in Weinstein movies?
Eta - I googled and the stuff about her being a Weinstein girl seems to come from Celebitchy, who a) is obsessed with celeb couples being fake, and b) stated that The Danish Girl is a Weinstein movie, which it isn't.

I don't know about the Tumblr aspect, but on Celebitchy, Kaiser has gone after her relentlessly for more than a year (due to the Fassbender association). I don't know any other gossip site that's insinuating that she used the casting couch w Harvey to get where she's at. Just Celebitchy, and Kaiser's the worst. I had to stop going over there.
Alicia's been very direct about the fact she thought she made some great movies, and expected to be in the Oscar conversation. Some saw that attitude as shameful, but I think she was just calling it like it is. I think she was excellent in both Ex-Machina and The Danish Girl. I'm just bummed that she was given the supporting actress slot for TDG, when she's clearly the lead. It's a huge pet peeve of mine.

Some saw that attitude as shameful, but I think she was just calling it like it is. I'll be honest. It sets my teeth on edge when people count their chickens before they hatch. You'd think Michael Fassbender of all people would've had a chat with her about it. It's fine to be proud of your films and the work you did in them but I wouldn't have felt bad for her if she'd been snubbed. Let others throw your name around when it comes to awards; it strikes me as a bit tacky to do it yourself. I think she was excellent in both Ex-Machina and The Danish Girl. I'm just bummed that she was given the supporting actress slot for TDG, when she's clearly the lead. It's a huge pet peeve of mine. Ex Machina was fantastic, I haven't seen TDG because I find Eddie Redmayne grating. Don't be too bummed that Alicia's in Supporting, she has a much better chance of winning. That said, I do think the Academy should maybe work on better parameters for how that is decided. The dress she wore to the Critics' Choice Awards was absolutely gorgeous, so she is forgiven for the Golden Globes apron

Carolina- Eddie was great in TDG too (but it's such a sad story).

I admit I do find her a bit overexposed at the moment, but she's clearly talented and has made good/interesting film choices to get where she is, so I can't hate.

Carolina- Eddie was great in TDG too (but it's such a sad story). They were both wonderful and honestly, I hope they both win. I'd love to 1. See Eddie get back to back Oscars and 2. Have him beat Leo. I saw the Revenant the other night as well and my reaction is- Him?

I don't get the Eddie hate, but different strokes.
It will be interesting to see if Rooney or Alicia gets the BSA this year. Both were fantastic in lead roles subjugated to the supporting category.
