Galaxy Quest is a better Star Trek movie than most of the actual Star Trek movies!

I have never seen this because Tim Allen is in it.

It's actually one of the few things where I think Tim Allen is kind of perfect. I'm not a fan of his generally but he was a great choice for the Shatner stand-in character. Of course everyone is great, the whole cast is perfectly chosen.
George Takei hilariously referred to Galaxy Quest as "a chillingly realistic documentary".

I have never seen this because Tim Allen is in it. It's definitely not a total Tim Allen vehicle. In fact, most of the other characters spend the majority of the movie actively hating on him. His general douche vibes really work for this movie (And his character becomes more likeable by the end even if Allen himself doesn't)

Yeah, Tim Allen is surprisingly tolerable in this, and even does well in his big pivotal emotional scene (where he tells Mathazar the truth and apologizes).

I was honestly surprised by Tim Allen's performance.
Anyway, one of the DVD editions has this gem: the Thermian audio commentary track.

I'm not keen on Tim Allen either, but that works so well for this film. Like Atreides said, this is a Star Trek film. It's about ST in a way that none of the films or series are. That's why I love it. I don't know if any of you watched Person of Interest but Enrico Colantoni (Mathesar) plays Elias, a charming but chilling Mafia don. I couldn't believe the same actor played Mathesar - he's that brilliant an actor. Elias. The sound is a bit out of sync for me, but I often find that with YouTube.

I adore this movie. I own it on DVD and try to watch it every few years, and yes, we watched it again after Alan Rickman died. *sniff* As mentioned previously, Tim Allen is really good in this, and his pivotal scene is a heartbreaker. And speaking of heartbreakers, I can't not mention Rickman's sincere "By Grabthar's Hammer".
