Perry is the only husband Jane hasn't met at this point. I was thinking about that too. They would have met at the play, but the tennis racquet stopped that. It seems now the most likely place they will meet is trivia night.

I'm trying so hard not to look at spoilers! I hope I can hold out until Sunday. I can't wait to see how all of it wraps up.
I loved how Bonnie was so chill about Madeline vomiting until she threw up on her. "What the hell!?"

What I would worry about is having Celeste leave but stay that close to Perry. How has the therapist not considered that he'll likely stalk her and hurt/kill her if she tries to leave or has left? Another sweet, ocean-side apartment though. Yeah, I was looking at that deck and thinking it wasn't going to seem so nice when Perry's up there banging on the windows at night. I also wonder where she would get the cash to rent it. She and Perry are very, very wealthy, but that's still a big chunk of cash to take out of the checking account. And what about after she leaves him? She's going to be cut off. And I don't know maybe she isn't as in denial as she appeared to be with the therapist and his been squirreling away money for a while.

I was wondering that, too. I don't care how much money they have, there's no way she could access money to pay for an apartment without it showing up, unless she controls the spending, which I suppose is possible but I doubt it. But that's a quibble - I find that the way that relationship is portrayed is quite accurate. You could feel her tension when he showed up as she was leaving the house, not knowing if it was a good thing or a bad thing that he was there.

I wondered too if Perry would notice a couple thousand missing. But I don't know how closely he pays attention - he apparently didn't know that she bought a new expensive suit to wear to see the mayor (to help Maddy with the play) until he saw it hanging in the closet, so he at least isn't monitoring the credit cards closely. I'm sure they've got their wealth spread around in various forms - maybe Celeste can cash something out of a retirement plan that Perry wouldn't notice right away like he might a large withdrawal from checking or savings. I assume she had her own retirement plan while she was working, and even though it may have been rolled over into a joint account, she still may be able to access it without Perry co-signing.
I've been thinking about how the therapist told Celeste to tell other people about the abuse so she could at least have some witnesses lined up, and then she didn't tell anyone. But the nanny was acting strangely when they returned from the hospital. She was lingering like she didn't want to leave. It makes me wonder if she's seen something (like bruises on Celeste) or maybe one of the twins told her something, but she seemed like she didn't want to leave Celeste/the twins alone with Perry. She may be someone who can back Celeste up in a custody hearing (that is, assuming Perry isn't the one who dies in the next episode and he's still around to participate in a custody hearing).

Okay, I'll be the shallow one here: was that real Skarsgard dick? I may have rewound that scene one or twelve times. I completely missed it, but I feel better now knowing that Michael K missed it, too.

Renata's chumminess with Jane did not seem genuine to me. Renata's got something up her sleeve and that play date offer was not just a playdate. I love Laura Dern calling Jane "girl" like they are suddenly BFF's. That was a nice touch. madefortv I think that was a flesh colored baseball bat. Even on HBO, showing the real thing would probably be scandalous (and asking the actor to get that way would probably be considered over the line). I wasn't buying that either, the Renata character has come across so high strung so far, I can't imagine her just dropping the whole thing. I laughed out loud at the eye patch, THAT was definitely in character. I also laughed at (and rewound) the giant penis shot. The coloring seemed awfully dark and it almost appeared to be fur covered, so I'm going with prosthetic on that one.

Maybe in a strange twist, Skarsgard is a werewolf in this show and that's why he beats his wife.

I started watching this last night because of this thread. I watched 3 1/2 episodes, and I'm completely hooked.
