Thanks! :-)
It's a bummer the series got cancelled because it would have been interesting to see the kids in college. Since they were sending Gilbert to college in Toronto and he and Anne aren't engaged, I bet they would have introduced another love interest for Anne while at Queen's. I think she went out with someone in the books, too, but in the books she had never kissed Gilbert before realizing that she loved him.

He was her "romantic ideal" but I believe she turned down his proposal because she realized she didn't actually love him, she just loved the idea of him. I wondered if they were planning on doing that with this Anne, but this Anne seemed to spend less time dreaming about dashing, romantic men and more time being a feminist. Maybe this Anne wouldn't have cared much about a Roy Gardner. I also think in the books Billy Andrews expresses interest in her, and the clearly went no where near there in the series.

I'm torn on whether or not I'd want another season. I find this Anne so grating, and I think I said in another thread that having her in braids and short dress for the entire season (until the end) just made her seem too young. I cannot even fathom this Anne in a relationship with anyone, not even Gilbert.

I found her more grating in season 3 than before, to be honest. I said this in the other thread, she was sobbing every single episode and everything she cried over got resolved pretty quickly. I know this Anne is supposed to be emotional and sometimes impulsive but season 3 made her seem almost hysterical and not in a good way. I also thought that the actress and also the actor who plays Gilbert were actually weaker than in previous season. Gilbert looked confused 75% of the time :-D

Season 3 just completely goes off the rails. I hated it and I'm not sorry to see this show die. It's trying way too hard to be woke, which, there were signs of that in season 2 with the Queer Soiree and everything with Cole, but it just goes so over the top in season 3. I think they literally use the word "consent" at one point. Nobody was saying that in the 1890s. I've seen this referred to as "Degrassi: The Edwardian Generation" and I thought that was so on point.
Also, they ruin pretty much every character except Diana and Jerry. They're adorable. Spin-off with them please. But AmyBeth is a horrifically bad actress, I've seen school plays with better leads, Gilbert I agree seems either bored or confused, Billy Andrews is a date rapist (WHAT? That was so not how it was in the books, not even in the same universe), Miss Stacy has nothing to do except be quirky (we get it show, she's the grown up Anne, stop beating us over the head with it), it just goes on and on.
We're never going to see Redmond in any adaptation. Which sucks because I love Phil and everything with Patty's Place so much.

Coming back to this for some reason, I forgot how much I hated how they dealt with the indigenous girl that was abducted and sent to that Christian school. I'm sure they were planning to revisit the story in another season, but in the meantime it felt like Anne basically forgot all about the girl.
