Trans Am Billy is every hot (but dumb) asshole I dated in the 80s and 90s. So hot...so dumb. I'm a sucker for 80s mullets and "Rock You Like a Hurricane" blasting from a Trans Am.

David Harbour did some great work with the kids this year too. He had a handful of emotional scenes with Millie and then that one in either episode 8 or 9 (can't remember) with Finn Wolfhard that I think were really well done. Agreed. I saw some people complaining that they thought Hopper was too angry/scary with Eleven, but I thought Harbour made it clear through his performance that he was actually scared for her, and it came out as anger (even before he said as much later). And yeah - great scene with Mike as well. It was clear that Hopper understood why Mike felt the way he did and the part he played in that, and basically let Mike do what he needed to do. After the last episode I did think, "Harbour really works well with those kids." Completely shifting gears to complain about something - it drove me nuts the way Eleven would be walking around with blood running out of her nose and she wouldn't wipe it off, and no one would point it out to her, and no one was all, "Hey, let me get that for you." It just drove me nuts. They'd totally tell her if it was a booger! Why not blood?

The whole time I was watching I kept thinking that Billy reminded me of someone, and I think it's a combo of "St Elmo's" Rob Lowe and "Lost Boys" Jason Patric.

The first time we meet Billy is when he squeals into the parking lot with the Scorpions playing, and then he's consistently presented as the hot shot on campus. That's why I felt Girls on Film was out of place at the kegger where Billy was presented like the king of the castle. From my experience, kids like Billy beat up on the type of kids that liked Duran Duran. Now, for a party full of theater kids or at least the less popular kids, Duran Duran would have been totally on point. Barb was probably a big Duran Duran fan and she wound up dead. Sorry to be overly emotionally invested on this point. Middle school years were rough.

The kid who plays Dustin (Gaten?) is freaking amazing. He has great timing. He doesn't have annoying child actor tics. I look forward to his career!

Sad confession time - you know how in episode two Bob puts on his 45 of "Islands in the Stream" by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers and it's supposed to show what a massive dork he is? That record was the first "grown up" record I bought as a kid (i.e., one not aimed at children). And yes, I had the 45. I played it on my Barbie record player. I was, like, six or seven. What can I say, I have always loved Dolly.
Other random thing - I noticed Hopper wears a blue bracelet that looks like a braided friendship bracelet or something. At first I thought maybe it was something Eleven made. But I looked it up and turns out he had it in season one too (never noticed it then) and it's made from his daughter's hair ribbon. He starts wearing it after her hair falls out. But then there's something even sweeter about it - Eleven is wearing it in the last scene of the season.

Oh man, kostgard. No one should even feel ashamed about loving Islands in the Stream! Dolly is the best! And Kenny Rogers makes great chicken and knows when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em!
Bob only seemed like a dork in a house where the kids mainly listened to the Clash and Bowie... and they were a few years off before Bowie would start Dancing in the Streets with Mick Jagger- so even the Starman himself had his 'dork' moments ;-P!

I love David Bowie, The Clash, AND Dolly Parton. Islands in the Stream is a fantastic song.

Oh man, what a perfect description, he's straight out of Lost Boys. And re: Billy, I forgot to add last time (another Spoiler): {Spoiler}I really hope they continue this idea of him having an affair with Nancy's mom. The abusive bad boy without a mother falls for the older woman, and she gets an escape from her boring suburban life? Bad idea in reality of course but that would be some damn fun TV.
