Happy for Bruno’s wins! I saw him in New Orleans a few months ago. Loved him!

Are the Academy Awards next? Seems like a long time in between awards shows!

Who introduced Kesha’s performance?
Oh I got it—Janelle Monae.

Jim Gaffigan and his wife - wasn't she very ill a while ago, or was I thinking of someone else? If so, good for them being able to show up now, they look great. Mutagen, she had a brain tumor removed last year. Chitowngirl, the Oscars are march 4.

As always, late to the party, but yeah--Patti LuPone and Wildflowers for the win. I still have a (really deteriorated) VHS tape that I made [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpNy6xqoQa8] the night of the 1981 Grammys--I was already obsessed with the OBC for Evita, and I watched Patti's performance over and over and over. (I also wanted a version of her performance dress as my prom dress, but my mom thought it was Too Much Foof.) Watching her sing it again last night was just as amazing--especially since that woman had a hip replaced less than three months ago. She is a goddess... ...and Wildflowers--that album was in the stack of CDs that Mr. d and I took to the hospital when ds2 was born, and that song was playing the moment he was born. We had seen Tom Petty play at Bass Concert Hall a few weeks before that, and Mr. d had scored some pretty sweet seats up front--I swear to God that Tom sang that song right to the hugely pregnant woman in the third row that night. Sweet, sweet memories... All in all, a pretty solid show. I liked Corden as host, and while Kesha has never impressed me much, her performance last night was pretty amazing. I can't imagine what it took to get up there and let all that out...

I love Bruno Mars, but the Grammy voters must be all 75 year old white men. The list of amazing, culture changing albums that have gotten shut out of the top categories is a mile long at this point. Bruno is actually somewhat of an anomaly because generally rap/R&B albums get relegated to the smaller categories but never win the larger ones. I don’t know what Kendrick is going to have to do to win one of the larger categories. Probably put out a folk album featuring Emmylou Harris and Elvis Costello.

So much side-eye to those who wore sunglasses indoors. Talk about the height of affectedness. Looking at you Bruno Mars and Beyonce!
