Awards season comes to an official close on Sunday March 4, with the Oscars telecast live on ABC at 8pm EST/5pm PT.
Your host is Jimmy Kimmel and while there have been early front runners in all of the major categories for months now, the Oscars have been known to throw out an upset. Even announce the wrong winner. So we could be in for an interesting evening.
And there's the fashion, where hopefully we will not be bored by this year's red carpet parade. A cringe-worthy sartorial fail or two would not go amiss among this snarky gang of Greecies.
On a personal note, my office shares space with Armani's NYC atelier, and last week they shut down the elevators for a time so a "major celebrity" could get to their final fitting. I never learned who it was. So let's keep an eye out for anyone wearing Armani so I can narrow the field of who made me stand around in the lobby for ages while my lunch was getting cold. They owe me soup.

Apparently Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty have been seen rehearsing the Best Pic presentation, so there's that to hold our interest right to the end.

HA. My guess is a "major celebrity" was wasted, and an assistant phoned ahead from the car in a panic. Entirely possible. Then again, half the staff of Armani itself seems wasted on a daily basis, judging by how slow they are to haul their asses out of anyone else's way. The other half seems terribly self-important, judging by how loud they are on cell phones trying to inform everyone around them of the fashion emergency Only! They! Can! Solve! For a design house, they all dress like homeless orphans. Don't get me started on the anorexia. Seriously, it looks like a pretty fucked up operation. So one zonked out "major celebrity" would have fit right in. My money is on Snowflake being too Speshul to bump up against us plebeians.

I guess Emma Stone won’t be presenting either? I’m not sure why, bc she was at some Oscar parties. I read Jane Fonda and someone else will be giving out Best Actor.
I moved a few months ago to a tiny quiet street in Hollywood which is crazy because it is only a few blocks from where they hold the Oscars and that is anything but quiet. Anyway, maybe I’ll take a walk and see what I can see around red carpet time. Although, I’m reading about it and will read this thread, I’m not going to actually watch.
By this point in the game we pretty much know the winners. I’m still pulling for Get Out and Jordan Peele.

Further proof of my age, and my trivia obsession: Rita Moreno will present an award tonight, and according to her daughter, will do so wearing the same dress that she wore to accept her Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1963 for West Side Story! I will be tuning in for that (and my dose of McConaughey), if for nothing else...

I will be tuning in for that (and my dose of McConaughey), if for nothing else... I saw a picture of her from the Oscar ceremony that year. Lovely dress! I love Rita Moreno. Looking forward to seeing her in that. I'm off to a friend's house to watch the show. Will be here to catch all the commentary and will also be posting my own on Facebook if only to counteract the two (that I know of) friends on Facebook who have already posted how they WILL NOT BE WATCHING because politics/liberals/blah blah blah. I took tomorrow off from work because I know I will be getting home late. I also want to watch post game stuff. ETA: Great recap of last year's Best Picture announcement screw up. It's a bit long, but an interesting read.

Your bartender Isaac is here! Drinks for the Best Picture NomineesI will also be at a friend's house, and will check back in late tonight. My guesses (and I really really hope I'm wrong): Oldman / McDormand / Rockwell / Janney, (and the ones I think will win, and really hope I'm right) with CMBYN and Get Out in Screenplay, GDT for director and Get Out as the Zeitgeist surprise winner. I'm rooting in acting for Chalamet / Hawkins (or Ronin for Brooklyn) / Jenkins / Janney. ***Air Kisses***

Red Carpet time! Giuliana isn’t even on the Red Carpet. And she was showing off her jewelry and did not have a wedding ring on-wonder if there’s anything to that.
I know it’s early, but is nobody there yet or is nobody talking to Ryan?
