I got teary too. I’ve followed Kate since she was at university and we have the same birthday so my heart goes out to her. I wish her a full recovery.
When will we learn not to speculate on people’s health?? The same thing happened with Chadwick Boseman and we all know that tragic ending.

Add me to list of teary-eyed watchers. I root for Will and Kate so much. I'm devasted by this news. That young family doesn't deserve this. I've got all fingers and toes crossed that she'll make a full recovery.
I guess she'll be away long past Easter then?
Jesus, I can't imagine the stress/worry that William is carrying right now. He must be so angry, too, at everyone making wild/crazy assumptions about his wife and their relationship.

1000% agree Ginger and sugarhigh. I also can't believe how mainstream the stupid rumors went. All those latenight "comedians" should be ashamed. I was particularly disappointed in Colbert. I was a fan of his from the daily show- that he fed into the harmful gossip was so gross. He has really fallen far in my eyes.
Wishing a fruitful recovery for Catherine, and her family.

When will we learn not to speculate on people’s health?? The same thing happened with Chadwick Boseman and we all know that tragic ending. Exactly. Chadwick Boseman was accused of abusing drugs because he lost weight. (Hey everybody who has been criticizing Kate for being thinner in the farm shop video - she's getting chemo!) Other people get criticized for having puffy faces and gaining weight and it turns out they have autoimmune disorders. The clues with Kate were not subtle. She announced that she had abdominal surgery requiring two weeks hospitalization and months of recovery. The fact that she's going through a major health crisis is right there in the announcement, and people went in on her anyway.

I know, that’s what I don’t get. She didn’t just disappear. Anyway.
Maybe I already said this but, of all the commentators, I was most disappointed in Stephen Colbert. I always liked him. And I just was surprised at how mean he was to people who have done nothing to deserve it.

He’s been taking mean-spirited shots at many people. Hopefully this will cause him to pause and reflect.

I think most of the late-night comedians these days have a lot of decency and show good judgment about where they aim their jokes. There's no Jay Leno around anymore, who used to be known for kicking people when they were down - usually harmless celebrities. John Oliver can be more biting, especially when it comes to the British Royal Family, because he's very anti-monarchy. But Colbert knew a woman had a health crisis, and seized the opportunity to spread an internet rumor about her husband cheating on her on TV. As a joke. I'm surprised by that. It would be appropriate if Colbert took a cue from Craig Ferguson/Britney Spears and said a little something about "his aim being off" with that joke, and wish her good health instead. ETA: Colbert has been steadily getting meaner with each passing year so I wasn’t surprised. He’s been taking mean-spirited shots at many people. Hopefully this will cause him to pause and reflect. Interesting. I don't actually watch Colbert most of the time anymore, especially his monologue. That's a shame.

He didn’t say anything else that other people weren’t saying. Hope Kate has people surrounding her who love her and who will help her through this. And the PR mess is the pr mess. But at least she’s able to be out and about, even if experiencing some of chemo side effects. That’s a good sign.

There are currently people on social media who think the cancer diagnosis is fake, and continue down their rabbit holes. These people are all outspoken Meghan supporters who seem pretty gleeful about Kate having cancer.
I don't understand why anyone needs to pit Meghan and Kate against each other.
As a cancer survivor, I might have to back away from social media for a bit.

As a cancer survivor, I might have to back away from social media for a bit. I often have to distance from social media just as a human. I opened up a few threads, and apart from the conspiracy theorists, there are still a lot of people doubling down on the idea that the conspiracy theories are the palace's (her) fault for not releasing enough details, not releasing them fast enough, not getting her out in front of the cameras, being secretive, etc. She was very clear. As she was recovering from surgery, she found out she has cancer. She's been busy helping her kids accept it and starting chemo. She has not been secretive, she's just been busy dealing with her serious health problem. Which, despite this announcement, remains her own private business.
