Just a rant. I hate that my IKEA has been sold out of the Linnmon desk in EVERY colour combo for what seems like weeks now. I just need a basic table/desk to set up in my son's room that looks nice and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but I guess everyone is of the same mind. Ordering online has been a nightmare for everyone up in Canada. Their delivery timelines are 6-8 weeks or longer! At this point, I might order online so that my kid has a desk come September...

Batmom, I made one years ago. I used plywood, foam, a spray glue to attach the foam to the wood, fabric that I held in place with the liberal use of a staple gun, and some chair rail/trim that I nailed to frame it all. It wasn't particularly difficult and turned out ok. Did you attach it to your bed or the wall? I didn't, though I could have attached it to the bed frame. I had a piece of plywood that was the height of the bed plus the height I wanted the headboard to be. I ended up just sliding it in behind the bed and let the bed keep it in place. It was for a guest bed, so it wasn't getting much use. For something actually being used, I'd attach it to the bed frame and probably put some batting on the back of the plywood to help with noise/scratching.

There's a corner of my yard with a daphne bush that has been half-dead for the almost 8 years I've lived here. During the spring rainy season I had my teenager pull it up and chop it into the compost bin. Today I went to Freddie's and bought a bunch of new plants to plant in that corner - hostas, mostly. I am looking forward to having prettier plants to look at from my back deck as Seattle enters our glorious three months of perfect weather before the dark and gloom descends again.

Project headboard was a success. I'm really happy with how it turned our and happy that I did the project with my far more detail oriented friend. I might have cut some cornersif I'd been left to my own devices.

Hello Gardener Greecies, I come with a problem a colleague is having with a couple of groundhogs. Everything she has planted they (Mr. and Mrs. Frank she calls them), dig up and feast. The only thing they have left alone are her hostas. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Trap and relocate, which would have to be done by a professional who deals with wildlife. Singles will move on after a year, but I think pairs will stick around if the forage is good. I had to put netting over my melons last year because of a groundhog living on a neighbor's property.

Thank you for the advice, I will pass it along. Right now she is trying to think of things to plant to deter them, bless her. They dug up the petunias she planted two days ago...

I'm a terrible gardener, so my inclination is to set up a webcam and make a cute little tableau for the groundhogs to pose in front of. I would be honored if groundhogs chose my yard to forage in.

Neem oil is a possibility as a deterrent. It makes whatever it's sprayed on very bitter to taste. She'd need to buy the concentrate and a sprayer, and it'll need to be reapplied after a rain as it washed off.
