Aw, this is sad news. Remember a couple years back when he was almost killed by a disco ball? Even he saw the potential awesomness of it.

Ug, I'm sad that he's still on drugs. I'm not surprised at all though. For so long now he has come across as being very unhappy and bitter.

Damn. Please, George, get help. And um, try not to be seen without make-up.
I still love "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me"

I can actually do a really good impression of the first part of that^ song: How about that first line, huh? He needs time ... to realize his crime... instead of, you know, blaming other people.* I saw him DJ about fifteen? years ago in this little gay club in Lake View neighborhood of Chicago. I believe he was wearing a fez. He looks like Uncle Fester in this pic of his arrest. Yikes! (*But I don't really care about drugs and I think they should be decriminalized. But not going there in this thread.)

Without makeup, he looks like someone who would beat up his own makeup clad self.

He's so talented, and he seems like such a sweet guy. I feel so bad for him. His family must be devastated--they seemed pretty tight with him, even though they were typical working-class Irish English and were probably given lots of shit about their cross-dressing son.
Best Culture Club song? Time.

Count me in as another fan of "Church of the Poison Mind." Damn if that isn't one hell of a catchy pop song -- I wish that were the perpetually-remembered Culture Club song instead of Karma Chameleon.
Also, "War Is Stupid" is like, the funniest song ever, because the lyrics are so inane. I kind of enjoy the "can't do that to me" part, though.

In a way, I feel sorry for George, too. He seems like a nice guy—and he really seemed to have learned his lesson about drugs after he was busted for heroin and basically had to rebuild his career back in the late 80s/early 90s. I'm pretty surprised he got tangled up with with taking drugs again considering what happened the first time he was caught. And according to this article, if he's convicted, he'll be tossed out of the U.S.? That certainly sucks. And a 15-year prison term for possessing 1/8th of an ounce of cocaine? That's ridiculous.

He has a lovely voice and this news is just sad. I wish him well and I hope he gets help. Hearing of him crying in the courthouse is just awful. Word is he's gone back to England now, to escape. Hopefully he gets treatment there as well.
My favourite Culture Club song is Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?...gorgeous vocals, sweet song. I also love the remake of Everything I Own. That boy can really sing.
