Poor George. I hope he gets off the drugs again and stays clean. He's got a lovely voice and a lot of talent.
Years ago, I read this story in a gossip column in the Daily Express. George, Elton John and his partner, David Furness, were at a party and George had spent a lot of the night slagging Elton off. Finally, David lost his temper and chased George all over the club until he hid in a stall in the ladies toilets. David kicked the door in and basically told George to not say another word about Elton, then left.
I still prefer George.

I guess I am the only "non-fan" of Boy George here. Oh well. I've always hated his voice and "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" makes me want to rip my ears out. And I think he is a bitter, washed-up has-been. Boy George vs. Madonna/Elton John/George MichaelOn Madonna: So I guess Madonna being a Catholic was okay? The Pope sure loves the gays. And on George Michael: So he faults George Michael for not being openly gay, but when Boy George first became famous with Culture Club, he claimed he had sex with women and men and was “bisexual." And he said the following in this Guardian interview:Hmm ... interesting. And not to forget: Hugh Jackmann is a pathetic closet case!111!!! Please lay off the drugs, George.

I agree with everything he said about Madonna. There is a lot of hypocrisy there. But I don't agree with the jab at George Michael. Leave GM alone. It isn't his responsibility to live his (gay life) the way Boy George wants him to. Elton John should back off on GM, too.

Holy shit! I would have never recognized him. And the "he appeared pale" is the funniest thing I've heard today. Pale as compared to what? Nobody has ever seen his natural skin before.

From here:13 bags!?! 15 years?!? Anyway, I don't disagree that George is a little bitter. But unless you came of age in the early 80's (I did), you can't have any idea what his real impact was, and how important he was to people like me. People were so much less accepting back then. And he really did open their eyes. I remember guys being attracted to him not knowing he wasn't a girl, and then having to question some things about themselves. I'm not saying he made them gay, just more open and accepting. You saw straights mixing with gays at the clubs, and that was very new at the time. Damn Rosie!:

Did anyone else here actually see Taboo? I did! I was so upset when it closed because I really loved the music and thought the cast did a great job. And this is from someone with absolutely no nostalgia for the Culture Club days (I was born after they broke up).

I saw Taboo and I thought it was really good. I even bought the soundtrack.
Wow, this story gets sadder and sadder. He has a second autobiography scheduled for release for next spring about his career as a DJ; I wonder if it'll be cancelled or, at the very least, include a hastily written afterword?
