Say what you will about the rock stars of the 60s and 70s but many of them aged quite well (save for the few who went the David Crosby route.)

I assume it is my post you are referring to, therefore I will respond in order to clarify. Boy George was revelant in the 80s, not the 60s or 70s. David Crosby is 20 years older and influenced a completely different generation. And "rock stars of the 60s and 70s" is a much broader subset and different decade than "male gay pop icons of the 80s", which I was referring to in my post. And lest my opinion on the latter subset be misconstrued, I loved those guys and I always will.

I know BG was completely an 80s star. I wasn't referring to your post or your opinion, just to those who might mock the older generation of rock stars for being irrelevant, self-destructive, or sanctimonious compared to the generations after.

What creeps me out is that I found him SO sexy in the 80s (yeah, I have no gaydar) and now, something about him reminds me of my father. I remember readiing some quote from him (probably in his autobiography) that the person he was "most like to end up with" was "the lorry driver's mate." I'm not exactly sure what a lorry (truck) driver's mate might be like, but the present-day Boy George looks an awful lot like my own blue-collar British father who's turned to substance abuse to escape the dreary reality of working-class life.
It's one thing to be a fag hag; it's quite another to have one's celebrity obssessions betray a major Electra complex.

Don't feel too bad DNT, not only did I have a major crush on Boy George, I also had one on Pete Burns. I don't think it gets more embarrasing then that . And if someone dares to try to link me to the Pete Burns swinging nuts pic, I will come through your computer Samara Morgan style and beat you with it. ;D

I once flashed my boobs to ROB HALFORD at a Judas Priest concert... (but perhaps that belongs in the TMI thread...) Anyway, on topic. I'm finding it very sad that any and all hot, gay, 80's icons named George are now horribly crippled by substance abuse .

You mean, other than "Fag Hag"? You just had a finely sensitive Gaydar at a very young age. That's to be commended!
